IN MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES.
OUR OFFERINGS
Mainstage Shows
Fully staged and orchestrated musicals provide educational and
performance opportunities for young people ages 5 to 18.
Camping Programs
Day Camps: Week-long camps for performers ages 5 to 12.
Residential Camps: Week-long camps held at Baker College
for performers ages 12 to 18. A fully-staged and orchestrated
musical is presented.
Senior Year Programs
Senior Show: Each spring, the talents of our graduating seniors
are showcased in a fully-staged and orchestrated musical.
DISTINCTIONS
We offer scholarships to more than 30 students each year who
would not otherwise be able to participate in mainstage
productions and camping programs.
We are committed to using full orchestration as originally
intended by the composers. At least 25 percent of our orchestra
positions are filled by student musicians.
Our summer camping programs have broadened our
geographical reach, with performers coming from states such
as Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota.
On our annual “MTKC in NYC” trip, 20-30 students travel to
New York City to attend shows, participate in various classes
and workshops, and perform for Broadway Casting Directors.
OUR REACH
MTKC students represent these 12 Kansas City area counties:
College Showcase: In Fall, graduating seniors have the opportunity
to perform for college representatives from musical theatre
programs who attend from across the country.
SunRaise Choir
Our high school students combine talents in this service-driven
ensemble, entertaining audiences at venues such as retirement
homes, holiday community events, local youth organizations, the
Plaza Lighting Ceremony, and the UMKC Pride Breakfast.
MTKC Pro
Our professional theatre company provides paid performance
opportunities for artists to further the quality and quantity of musical
theatre in Kansas City. We are committed to featuring Kansas Citygrown talent first before drawing from other major markets.
