Audition - Open Call for Amateur Actors (with or without previous acting experience) We are looking for amateur actors to participate in ‘’Myths and Tales from / across the Divide’’ a devise-theatre workshop and performances initiated and funded by the Goethe-Institute Cyprus and part of the Official PAFOS Cultural Capital of Europe 2017 programme • Application Deadline: Wed, March 15th, 2017 • Auditioning Date: Sun, March 19th, 2017, 12-16h • Audition Location: (Goethe-Institut, Ledra Palace Buffer Zone, Nicosia) Contact us: If you are interested to take part in the audition, please send an email with your name and call back number to Marios Ioannou: [email protected] ----Description: ‘’Myths and Tales from / across the Divide’’ is a free of charge devise-theatre workshop and performances under the guidance of Artistic Directors and Performers Achim Wieland and Marios Ioannou consisting of 12 workshop meetings that will culminate into 3 Theatre performances at site-specific locations in June 2017 in Pafos, Nicosia & Kyrenia. The participants/actors of the workshop and performances will be selected individuals from both sides of the divide (via an audition – open call out process) that will, through initial story sharing, thematic research, rehearsals, and theatrical performance, engage in an honest and unfiltered dialogue and exchange around our known histories, untold tales and personal stories that aims to shed light on new perspectives of each other and promote crosscommunal understanding and dialogue. ----What do we know of each other today in a divided Cyprus? What are the myths and tales of our shared past? What are the personal stories and narratives of today shaped by our heritage, our culture upbringing and society? The ‘‘Myths and Tales from / across the Divide’’ workshop and performances, offer a unique opportunity to participants to explore, expand, and evolve these aspects. Workshop & Performances info and dates: • Workshop Leaders / Artistic Directors: Marios Ioannou / Achim Wieland • Workshop period: April – June, 2017 (12 Workshops, Nicosia Buffer Zone) • Suggested Age: approx. 20-40 (any age group may apply / min age 18) • Working Language: English • Performances / Dates: 3 Final Performances / Late June, 2017 / Pafos, Nicosia, Kyrenia • Participation Fees: Workshop + Performance Participation are free of charge Participation Requirements: • No previous acting experience is necessary. • We encourage all to participate from / across the Divide from all ethnic and linguistic communities and cultures. Ie Greek, Turkish, Maronite, Armenian, Latin with the only requirement a curiosity in theatre, a desire to share from the heart, and a willingness to listen to each other’s stories without prejudice. • The workshop focuses on individuals in their 20’s and 30’s. However, any age group is encouraged to apply (Minimum age 18). • Selected individuals must be committed to a weekly 3-4 hour workshop (weekends) during the months of April, May and June, 2017.
