New York Thespians Theatrical Practice Scholarship
Application 2017
This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to one graduating high school senior who demonstrates a
commitment to the craft of theatre through the audition, resume, interview, and teacher
recommendation. Applicants must be members in good standing of the International Thespian
Society, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and attend the New York Educational Theatre Festival on
April 29, 2017. Only two students per troupe may apply for the performance scholarship
auditions. The awarded money will be sent directly to the college that the student chooses to
attend. The recipient will be announced during the festival’s closing ceremony.
Participants must audition in one of the following categories (adhering to Individual Event
guidelines unless otherwise noted):
• Single monologue (1 to 2 minutes)
• Costume design
• Lighting design
• Costume construction
• Scenic design
• Stage management
• Solo musical theater
• Theatre marketing
Following the audition, applicants will participate in a brief (approximately 2 to 3 minute)
interview.
