Success Stories: DRV2700
Piezo Alarm Sounder
Where We Won
Why We Won
Who: EMEA Fire Detection Provider
•
Customer’s existing resonant piezo
driver provided loud alarms but poor
voice quality.
•
DRV2700 was able to replace the high
output voltage (>80Vpp), maintain the
required loudness and flat frequency
response provided good voice quality.
What: DRV2700, MSP430FR2033,
TPS62080
Where: Alarm Sounder
Volume: 80ku/yr; $150k / year

Where We Won
Why We Won
Who: Japanese Industrial Printhead Provider
•
DRV2700 provided significantly smaller
solution than the customer’s prior
piezo driver solution (discrete).
•
DRV2700 was able to replace the high
output voltage in a smaller form factor
while maintaining the required ink flow
rate. Customer’s design based on
DRV2700EVM-HV500.
What: DRV2700 (4pcs per system)
Where: Industrial Inkjet Printhead

DRV2700
200Vpp, 1000Vp Piezoelectric Actuator Driver
• Why were these parts developed?
– To provide a compact solution for driving piezoelectric actuators
– To enable customers to use piezoelectric actuators in a wide range of
applications where space for electronics is limited and prior solutions were
too large
– To simplify customers’ development of drive circuitry for piezo actuators
• What differentiates this part?
– With solution size under 100mm2, it’s < 1/15th the size of comparable
discrete solutions.
– It’s amplifier is specifically designed for driving capacitive loads
– The integrated boost converter can provide up to 105V in boost mode or
1000Vp in flyback mode.
– TI’s only single-chip 100V boost converter and 200Vpp amplifier.
