A) An Indian Buddhist who took the Zen method to Chan. Founder and first patriarch B) Established a sect based on the Tendai school of Mahayana. Selected last fourteen chapters of the Lotus Sutra as the essential doctrine of the original Buddha C) held that all that is needed is faith in Amida; he rejected all the older ascetic practices and accepted a married priesthood in Buddhism D) Tibetan Buddhist whose famous six precepts about the right state of mind are reminiscent of Zen principles E) Also known as Lin – Chi: noted for his violent howling, shouting and beating methods.
