Shōbōzan Fudenji is a Temple and Monastery. It is represented by the Italian
institute Sōtō Zen Shōbōzan Fuden.
Founded in 1984, Fudenji is intended
as a spiritual, cultural and training centre. It is open to interreligious and intercultural exchange and dialogue on a
local, national and international level.
On the 1st October 2009 Fudenji was
recognized as Sōtōshuū Tokubetsu Jiin.
The Institute was recognized as a religious
corporation with D.P.R. (Italian President’s Decree) as of the 5.7.1999 (G.U.
23.9.1999), is a member of the “Unione
Buddhista Italiana” (U.B.I., Italian Buddhist Union). The aims of research and
service are closely related with that of the
institute and promote an intense cultural,
educational and training activity. Over
the years this has resulted in the creation
of a valuable network of relationships
with the local people in the institutional,
interconfessional and academic fields.
In addition to the daily practice (gyōji)
and the monastic training (summer and
winter Ango), Fudenji promotes monthly
sesshin, retreats for beginners, sewing
courses, weekly Dharma talks, Tea Ceremony, Taiko’s courses, Japanese language
courses, residential opportunities, symposiums, conferences... Furthermore the
principal annual observances (Shusho-E,
Temborin-E, Shakuson Nehan-E, Shakuson Gotan-E, Taisei-Ki, Vesak, RyōsoKi, Daruma-Ki, Kaizan-Ki, Jōdō-E)
are opportunities of meeting practitioners, lay people, members and friends.
