TIMBEX Power supply system for telecommunication PWR - 120 1/5 PWR 120 – Power supply The power supply system PWR – 120 is designed to supply telecommunication´s facilities. When connected to the external batteries, this system can work as a power supply and at the same time as a battery charger. Technical description of the system Mechanical construction This power supply is structured as a plug-in unit into 19“ frame with the height 9U. The signalling panel and control elements are placed on the front panel, the opening for the insertion of up to four plug-in supplies MRC 1800 is placed in the bottom part. If all the units are not inserted , the unused opening is covered with topper. In the upper part is control panel with circuit breakers for locking off the input of four power units, two circuits of batteries and outgoing circuit breakers. At the right side are digital measuring instruments for outgoing voltage and current and indicating panel, which shows condition of the supply. Under the indicating panel is on the front panel 15 pin MALE CANON connector of remote signalling. Entire mounting terminals are situated in the upper part of the system. Terminals for connection of fivevenous supply cord 3 x 230V AC, terminals for connection of batteries and terminals for connection of loading are accessible after recovering the upper covering panel. In the back panel are openings for the cord. In the left part of the back panel is also situated a ground terminal (bolt). The top and inferior sides of the device are made up of withdrawable covering with openings for ventilation. The cabinet of the device as it self is made of aluminium frames externaly modified by anodizing. The front and back panels are lackered with stoved paint according to scale RAL. Indicating panel serves for displaying of immediate condition of the power supply. The memory belongs to the panel as well and catches the possible failure and displays it with the indicating LED diode until reset the memory. supply OK Green LED failure of the unit failure of supplied voltage Red LED Red LED discharged battery disconnection of load reset the memory Normal failure-free running of the supply. On the input of the power units is no mains voltage. Yellow LED The voltage of the battery droped on the 1/3 of the total capacity. Red LED The voltage of the batery droped on the 42V and the load was disconnected. Button reset engaging memory of failures. Remote signalling The supplied system generates signal which shows its immediate operating condition, which can be used for distance control. All signals are lead to signalling connector, which is situated on the front panel of the supply. All signals are realized by nonvoltage contact, which is galvanicly separated from the power supply with load 60V/100mA AC and DC. 2/5 PWR 120 – Power supply Description of signals Circuit breaker switch off Disconnection of load Failure of power unit Outage of mains supply 230V AC Discharge of batterie Any circuit breaker is switched off. The voltage of the battery is lower than 42V. The power unit does not give any current into the load. At least one of the phases of supplied network voltage is absent. The capacity of the battery has ran down to 2/3. The control electronics are realized by microcomputer, working on the base of RISC microprocessor from company ATMEL, AT90S8535 with build 10 bits A/D convertor This converter measures output voltage of the supply adjusted by input voltage divider. Except the analog voltage microcomputer process signals generated by the power units of the supply. These signals are galvanicly divided from the electronics of the power units (optics). The output microcomputer signals control relay, which serves as a signalling. At the same time, this relay controls output contactor, which serves for disconnection of load during discharge of spare battery supply. The supplied voltage for the microcomputer is filtrated by input VF filter LC. The supplied voltage 5V comes from DC/DC converter from TRACO company, which works on the frequency c. 350kHz and effectively filtrates possible failures coming thorough after power supply. Microprocessor is further complemented by circuit type WATCHDOG, which monitors nonfailure program running and the right value of microcomputer´s supplied voltage. On the super connection board of the microcomputer are also located circuits of the indicating panel including memory and galvanicaly separated supplying circuits of the measuring instruments. The microcomputer is connected to power units and to board of the indicating panel by flat cables with selfcutting connectors, also the output signalling connector is connected by flat cable. Other connections are realized by plug – in connectors with bolt terminals with spacing 5.08mm. The microromputer board is located in holder from WEIDMULLER company and attached to ledge DIN 35mm. The control program is made with respect to the highest safety of the power supply operation. The digital filtration of measured output voltage value is beeing used for the purpose of preventing load disconnection during random peak or trouble. Supply of load is prefered from supply of batteries – if there has been disconnection of load influenced by discharge of batteries during operation without network, after renew of electric energy supply the load is immediately braced. The load is indeed braced actually after renew of supply, irrespectively to possible increase of unloaded batteries voltage in the mean-time. This way is possibility of system vibration eliminated. Reliability of program running is also increased by watchdog, which would during theoretical program „stray“ or during the program infinite loop – this possibility was accurately observed and eliminated already during program writing – restart computer and renew this way a normal program running. Additionaly the unit is designed in the way, that possible computer reset will not disconnect the load. 3/5 PWR 120 – Power supply Power units Constituent parts of the power supply are MRC 1800 units from English company APC UK. These units are specialy designed for pretentious operation in telecommunication services. They are build for parallel operation with share of load. Parallely can work up to 10 units. Their construction enabled design and production of power supply with possibility of swapping the units during operation („Hot Plug“). Unit connectors are settled in the way, that firstly the supply and output connectors are well enough set in and than signal connector are set in, this starts the unit. This way all the hazards of contacts burning and possible „arc“ on the connectors during unit set in and unit pull out are excluded. Detailed entry of unit attributes is stated in separated unit description, which is part of this documentation. Technical parameters Operating and dynamic parameters of the supply are in virtue of plug in units parameters – vide enclosure. Power supply connection All the connecting points (except signalling, which is accessible on the front panel) are placed under withdrawable covering in the upper part of apparatus. In the right part when viewing from the back side, are placed terminals for load and batteries connection, in the left side are placed terminals for connection of supply input voltage 230V AC. Output terminals and terminals for batteries are type series VDU35 from WEIDMULLER company and enables connection of cable up to cross-section of 50mm2, net terminals are type WDU6 and enables connection of conductor up to cross-section of 10mm2. Terminals are affixed with descriptions. The power supply is connected to the grid 3x380/230V by fiveveinous cable. This admission can be lock off by circuit breaker in the way, that the protection selectivity will stay preserved. Unit circuit breakers have a value of 16A and switch out characteristic „C“. In regard to total amount of units, which is four, one phase is loaded with two units. We recommend to protect admission by one-phase circuit breakers instead of three-phase circuit breakers, because failure of one phase will not switch off the whole supply. The signalling can be connected by 15pin connector CANON type. As all signals are realized by nonvoltage switch contacts, which are galvanicly separated from the supply, it is possible to create with their help another supplemental logical functions and distinguish for example failures, which call for an attendance of technician and which nay even in the case of not taking in all the signals by the capacity of flow path. 4/5 PWR 120 – Power supply Power supply turn on After connecting supply voltage, batery, load and signalling, the supply can be turned on. Supposed that all circuit breakers are switched off. Firstly the circuit breakers are turned on with supplied voltage 230V and directly after this circuit breakers of the batteries shall be turned on. On the indicating panel will flash the pilot-light POWER SUPPLY IS OK. After this the memory will be zeroized on the indicating panel. Only the green pilot-light shines. Then the load can be connected. Power unit swapping Screw off 4 screws M4. Grab the unit by the holder and pull out. The second unit insert in its place and screw down. The whole action can be done during operation of the supply without any further arrangements. 5/5 PWR 120 – Power supply
