ARE delighted to inlude Prier Wintles ascinating description f the hypothetical body Minos, in
its entirety. This is surely astrological writing at its best, captivating independent ideas, with
many examples, both natal and mundane, and an unusual nowadays animistic approach to
the different planetary bodies. Maybe we are Doubting Thomass when it comes to these
speculative extras, believing the basic ten, E, provide complexity enough, and have been
frequently criticized for omitting peoples pet rocks from illustrated charts, but we were
nonetheless fascinated by this. The orbit of Wintles Minos is not at all the same as that
proposed by Dr. Landscheidt and others for TransPlutoPersephone the difference is large.
Even if you too demand astronomical verification before allowing new glyphs into your
horoscope wheel, like us youll enjoy the depth and breadth of Prier Wintles reasoned
advocacy. What can we say In pursuit of being withit, there just had to be an OJ article in
Considerations. And Gary Heatons analysis is clear and well thoughtout. But is he right
Several readers requested an explanation of Stellar Dynamics, the system of Harmodynes
and Discordynes the Church of Light created. Readers unfamiliar with
the Dynes will appreciate Arie Mantels clear explanation, applied here to the horoscope of
Nelson Mandela. By working stepbystep through the example and appreciating just why is
among the Zodiac twelve we learnt much about the astrological makeup of this South African
leader. At a recent conference, the interest group with consistently the largest attendance
was devoted to Financial Astrology. Hence, Carol Mulls excellent article suggesting the use
of a different chart with which to predict price variations on the NYSE will interest many. One
of the several articles replaced by Minos described your editors recent work generating a
multivariate regression model to predict major turns in the Dow. Using , daily horoscopes ,
the aim was to identify astrological correlates that would distinguish the days on which there
was a directional change in the index either peak or trough associated with a subsequent
price change of or more. The resulting combination of aspect sets is a good fit and it correctly
predicted each of s major turns, to the day. The bottom line During , the model highlights

be more famous tlan the President since the events of June th, . Charged with the murder of
his exwife, Nicole, the football hero turned actor, who symbolized the American dream of a
classless, raceless society, was suddenly cast in the lead role of a drama which has split
public opinion like no other case. Police mug shots have replaced the heroic, athletic images
in magazines and newspapers while the trial now tops the bill of celebrity courtroom drama
ahead of Von Bulow and the Menendez brothers. It all began at a.m. PDT on June th, when
Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found dead by a neighbor outside Nicoles town
house in Brentwood, a suburb of Los Angeles. Both bodies had deep knife wounds to the
neck and Goldmans also showed signs of a struggle. That afternoon Nicole had attended a
dance recital of her daughters, having been granted custody following her divorce from O. J.
Simpson in . OJ and Nicole had arrived and left separately, although he made an
unsuccessful effort

to sit next to her. He was also excluded from a family party at the Mezzaluna restaurant that
evening. After she left the restaurant, Nicoles friend Ronald Goldman, an aspiring actor
employed as a waiter at the Mezzaluna, had picked up a pair of glasses she had left behind
and gone to her house to return them. It was there, outside her home, that their lives came to
a gruesome end. After researching many murders I have reached the conclusion that the first
awareness of the crime gives the most accurate horoscope. This moment is often the
discovery of the body, unless the crime was witnessed, and it may happen days, weeks or
even months after the murder itself. The cosmic intelligence has own timetable for
revealingitsclues and its press releases are superior to our estimates about the time of death.
There is also the advantage that a random source determines the astrological moment, and
the criminal cannot control the information. In a murder chart the victim is described by the Ist

mutual reception between i and describes a strong friendship. H rising is also Nicoles natal
ASC H, see Figure . At the event transit , her coruler, at / was opposite her natal if while
transiting , primary mler of her Ascendant, at TIt was conjunct her natal QOTIt in her
natal VIIIth house of death. Potential violence was also indicated by her progressed r at Q
conjunct natal Q which was triggered by a square from transiting r t at the preceding New
Moon. Solar Arc Q, ruler of her VIIIth, was also d for the death which may be connected with
divorce. The preceding New Moon also featured transiting at conjunct progressed , both

VIHth and rules her VIIth, so we have a clear picture of a violent death involving a partner or
open enemy, which was connected with a love affair or her children. At the event partners
was stationary at conj unct Nicoles natal and stimulating the natal square to the IT a similar
planetary combination. is the primary Ascendant ruler, at the event retrograde in TIL in the
VlIIth, recently squared by the . Besides her death, this may relate to the ring Nicole had
returned to OJ on May th. It may also refer to the recent threat allegedly made by OJ, to
report her to the IRS for tax evasion. Retrograde planets refer to the past and suggests her
death is linked to a similar event in the past. Nicole had made many emergency calls to the
police during and after the marriage and OJ was charged with wife battering in . Nicole had
also confided to therapist Susan Forward that on several occasions OJ had threatened to kill
her if he caught her with anyone else. In the event chart, rules the criminal VIIth and is
stationarygoingretrograde in , disposited by the Q , indicating someone who is familyminded
but who
likes to dominate and is motivated by success. At OJs birth see Figure was also retrograde in
. He has Q rising and his Ascendant ruler, the , is in . After the end of his football career he
made it in films such as Naked Gun and Towering Inferno. Lee Strasberg called him quota
natural actor.quot Mutable descending and the IT quincunx death support the theory that
there were two murderers. The defense argued that OJ could not have carried out both
killings single handed as Goldman was a body builder, but maybe he hired an accomplice
Natally Nicole has at squared by her at , showing the possibility of attracting dangerous men.
At her death her had progressed to , e, and progressed at was quincunx progressed at an
aspect which occurs with uncanny regularity at such an event. When we find transiting
partners square natal at the preceding Solar eclipse, with transiting e also conjunct her ruler,
, we realize her life really was in danger. More important, however, is OJs , his Ascendant

retrograde shows the criminals desire to reunite, reconcile and return to an old situation. In e
he is sentimental, possessive and easily hurt, longing for the security of the family. At the Vth
Porphyry cusp, he is connected with her children or her lovelife. OJ attended his daughters
dance recital only hours before the crime and he is known to have jealously hounded Nicole
since their divorce. was also stationary retrograde, at TIL, on the evening of October th,
when Nicole made one of her many calls about OJs violence. They were now living
separately. This time he had broken down the back door. Between and p.m. was the
Ascendant ruler callerlNicole. It was besieged by if TIL and E TIL while aptly describing the
threat of violence. in the murder chart is this previous station and the Q is conjunct it. Since is
Nicoles coruler the aspect indicates a link between the two events. The Q J disposes and is
also ruler of the children, Vth. Since the Js last aspect was we can assume there was some
conflict at the dance recital regarding Nicoles daughter and that the criminal was involved.
With her ruler positioned in the VllIth house we also know
that she was worried about how an IRS demand may effect her childrens welfare. OJs
obsession after the divorce was to have Nicole back in his life. This state of mind is shown in
the murder chart by s separating trine with Nicole to which he is now trying to return by
retrograde motion. is in e, the Sign of s exaltation, so the criminal idolizes Nicole. In
December OJ told a clerk at a local clothing store, quotIm really trying to reconcile with my
wife.quotIt is clear that he refused to accept the divorce. Keith Zlomosowitch told a pretrial
jury how he and Nicole had their date interrupted at the Mezzaluna restaurant in . quotHe
leaned over our table, rested his hands on the table and sort of stared at myself and the
other male individual at the table. Then he spoke Im O. J. Simpson and shes still my
wife.quot is parallel and lilt, which have separated from their opposition by . I interpret this
aspect as showing the March divorce two years earlier. is also the ruler of Nicoles VIlIth
house so her death was connected with a separation involving the criminal. b. E is the
attempted reconciliation following the opposition with lilt. was last trine at TIL so at the time of
the murder was beyond this point. Equating a degree for a year, this takes us back to
December , three months before the final separation. The marriage would have been on the
rocks then as another indicator

to the same period. In the murder chart if violence, knives is at in the st, which describes the
severe wounds to the throats, but if is also square to OJs progressed . rules his natal VITth
so his progressed exwife IS squared by a transiting knife attack. This aspect alone is not
enough to implicate OJ for it only shows violence towards his exwife. However, he did
purchase a knife on May rd when transiting if was at T at noon PDT, again aspecting
progressed , which must cast more doubt his innocence. OJs potential for violence is shown
by his natal if which had progressed to at the event, conjunct stationary retrograde the
criminal in the murder chart. This conjunction fell square to his natal f at in his IInd house, the
VIHth from the VIIth his partners death. Since Nicoles , at , squares both her own VInth
house ruler, , at , and , at /, the close synastry with OJs f is a dangerous contact augmented
by his progressed if and stationary P. With TIl on OJs lInd cusp, is also the ruler of his
partners death, and its station makes the danger to Nicoles life very real. Additional
testimony to Nicoles death in OJs radix comes
from partners death opposed on June th by transiting gtilt, coruler of on his VIIth house cusp.
HE L. A. POLICE were familiar with Nicoles accusations of domestic violence but it was not
until January st, that her emergency call at a.m. PST led to a conviction. The police arrived to
find her emerging half dressed from a bush in the garden. Hes going to kill me, hes going to
kill mequot she yelled with her face bruised, lip swollen and scratches and handprints on her
neck. The chart for the call, Figure , shows the last degree of ill rising with l intercepted in the
st. if and j. are therefore Nicoles primary rulers while gtilt rising and are her corulers. OJs
significators are and , rulers of the VIIth House. The recent threat to her life is shown by the ,
ruling the VlIIth House, separating from if, but the future danger lies in the s translation of
light from if to , reactivating the separating square between husband and wife. If OJ killed
Nicole his actions fulfilled the promise of this earlier chart and should be evident in its
directions for June th, . There are no less than four directions involving the for this date. By
solar arc, Nicoles primary ruler, if, had reached T, rI , while transiting gtilt, her coruler,

by sextile the link between significators being more important than the type of aspect. Finally,
the progressed , at XS, is cf , the ancient ruler of death. As a rule I place little importance on
the scmisextile but s progression to , difficult is to ignore here as it ties OJs second ruler into
the conjunction of progressed J and radical . Two transits involving add to the death
symbolism developing in this chart on June th . Transiting if at t opposed radical e, both
ruling the , Ascendant, while transiting e, at quot opposed Nicoles coruler, t. Both transits
symbolize brutal violence while , showing OJs actions, has moved into the VIIlth House, at ,
t. Again, the type of aspect seems to be less significant than the contact from the VllIth
House to one of Nicoles rulers. It is also worth noting that OJs other ruler , , though not in
aspect, was nevertheless stationary retrograde at also in the VIIIth House. If OJ is innocent,
why does this chart of domestic violence resonate so strongly with Nicoles death
fiveandahalf years later

AKING THE VIIth house of the murder chart as the criminal Ascendant, the s applying
aspects should describe his activities. First is a contraparallel with retrograde t, ruler of his
IVth, showing a return journey home. t in the criminals Ilnd describes OJs million house in
Brentwood and echoes his natal chart which has retrograde t in , conjunct the Ie. If he was
the criminal, OJ returned home to catch a taxi to the airport but the time of his arrival is
disputed. The next squares if in his IXth and ruling his IIIrd a plausible combination for a taxi
ride to the airport. if in his IXth suggests the knife could have been disposed of during the
flight or in Chicago. s parallel with the IXth house ruler, , also suggests the criminal made a
long journey a business trip fits well with t on his IXth cusp and t in his lInd house. After
returning to Los Angeles for questioning on June th, OJ later became the main suspect but
when the time came to tum himself over to the police they had to announce he was a fugitive
from justice. The nation turned on their TV sets to see him cruising in his Ford Bronco down
the San Diego freeway with close friend Alan Cowlings at the wheel and the world cheering
him on. If OJ is the criminal, , here he is in his Xlth house friends making a return journey
home retrograde to be with his mother and family, .

In the murder chart the l is III dramatic Q in the XIIth house of escapes this wasnt OJs first
disappearing act. On New Years Day, , after being arrested for beating Nicole, he fled in his
blue Bentley before the police could catch him. He was once quoted as saying My speed has
always been my best weapon. So if I can nm away from whatever it is, I dont need to be
there.quot After squaring if, the murder aspects the criminals XIlth house ruler, the Il , in his
Xth house of authorities and reognition. The describes the dramatic escape publicly visible
as it was on live national TV Il, Xth house with The Juice Americas national hero, staging his
own race for the touchline. Signs reading quotGo OJ quot appeared at the roadside as if to
parody his commercial for Hertz cars in which he dashes to the airport. The n in the criminals
Xth could also signify OJs career as a sports commentator, famous athlete and spokesman
for Hertz rental cars. The quincunx with Nicole in his Vth also confirms another feature of
OJs life his success placed an intolerable strain on his relationship with his wife and chil
dren due to absence and his affairs with other women. After sextiling the , the makes a
contraparallel with , ruler of the criminals Vth. Holding a gun to his head and threatening
suicide, OJ next forced the police to allow him to drive home and say goodbye to his
children. The ls final aspect, a square to retrograde in the criminals IIIrd house of messages,
describes the closing scene before OJ turned himself over to the police, clutching two family
pictures. Still threatening suicide, he demanded to talk to his mother who was now in a San
Francisco hospital recovering from stress. The police finally agreed and supplied a
replacement phone battery. OJ continued the theme of his final letter,quot written on June th,
as he spoke of his love for Nicole, his mother and his children. If retrograde in is the phone
call to his mother, then in his IIIrd warns us that the criminals final words, however dramatic,
may be no more than an attempt to manipulate public opinion.

ROM THE LINKS between the murder chart, OJs natal and progressed charts, the calls and
the purchase of the knife, I believe O. . Simpson was involved in the murder of his exwife,
Nicole. Many astrologers consider it unethical to express opinions about a suspects guilt but
they usually limit themselves to natal charts, often untimed, which by themselves are
insufficient to make valid deductions. When the net is spread wider to include the murder
chart and other event charts deductions can be crossreferenced, allowing

greater predictive accuracy. This also satisfies the requirement of free will. The natal chart is
inherited at birth and therefore cannot implicate anyone, but the event charts we attract are
the result of our actions and are therefore a source of judgment. Two people with the same
horoscope may have directions involving if which show the potential for a violent act but if
one lives peacefully while the other beats his wife, only the latter will be involved in such an
event and only he will attract event charts which can be read to indicate his guilt. Received

Garry Heaton a member of the Astrological Lodge of London where he lectures on
astrocriminology and horary astrology. His articles have been published in The Astrology
Quarterly, The Traditional Astrologer and Aspects. His article on Page is his first appearance
in this magazine. While still a schoolboy in Holland years ago, Arie Johannes Mantel was
taught astrology by his uncle, a professional astrologer and herbalist. In addition to his
obvious wealth of experience in our subject, Aries engineering background has given him the
ability to explain complex calculations in an easytounderstand manner. Carol S. Mull, an
active trader, author and lecturer from Indianapolis, is the publisher/editor of two newsletters,
The AstraInvestor and Metal Cycles. In recent years Carol, the author of Standard amp
Poors and OvertheCounter Stocks, has organized the very successful Conferences on

IN PLANETS we dont yet know about for certain is rather like the craze for backing horses.
Some people are addicted to it and know the names, locations and probable form of anything
up to a dozen extra planets, most of them farther away than but some closer to us even than
lilt. The majority of us are more like the person who says he or she is not a racing man or
woman but who occasionally likes to back a dead certainty when the evidence for it is
particularly good. Think what it would mean to be on a winner how many astrological
problems it might clear up, besides new ones it might create Evidence that there is
something out there has been good for a very long time. Long after the discovery of
astronomers were calculating the possible orbit of a planet beyond which could account for
observed irregularities in the motions of , lilt and and also for those of various periodic
comets. itself had been discovered in this way, following the calculations of Levcrrier in
France and Adams in Britain, so the method was obviously well founded in fact. And then
was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in , just where the calculations had said it would be. But.
... But is not the transNeptunian planet For a long time there was uncertainty about its true
size and mass but in the last twenty years sophisticated modern techniques have proved that
its diameter is only / that of our and its specific gravity less than that of water. Its total mass is
only one eighteen thousandth of that of our earthmoon system, when it is calculated along
with that of its own moon Charon. Acting by means of gravity alone cannot have caused the
observed perturbations in the orbits of the major planets. The transNeptunian problem is truly
an open problem once more and it is being quietly investigated in more than one quarter. In
June the German astrological magazine Kosmobiologie announced that Prof. Dr.

H. H. Kritzinger had been working intensively on the subject for a number of years and had
just then published his conclusions. The planet, he said, was a massive one with a probable
visual magnitude of about . This is brighter than e, and for a planet well beyond the orbit of e
this means it would have to be at least the size of, if not larger. Its orbit was inclined to the
ecliptic at an angle of considerably more than that of which has the most inclined orbit so far
known at . Its mean distance from the was astronomical units Earth distances and its period
of revolution . years. In its right ascension was given as and declination and for R.A. , Decl. .
Thus during these ten years it was in the constellation Pegasus. Its Zodiacal longitude in was
approximately . In the British journal Astrology gave a brief notice of the Kosmobiologie
article in its Data Section, quoting the French magazine Les Cahiers Astrologiques. On
November th there was a lecture on the planet given by Jean OvertonFuller, followed by a
general discussion, which was reported in a issue of Astrology. Prof. Kritzinger had named
his supposed discovery Minos but Miss OvertonFuller preferred to call it Isis. Whichever
name was used the planet appeared to have much in common with the sign o. The legend of
the Minotaur, a monster that was halfman, halfbull, supported the idea and of the traditional
dualrulership signs was clearly the one which should be next in line for assignment to a
newly discovered planet. If the name Isis was used then since she was the Egyptian
CowGoddess, the Great Mother, the link was even stronger. During the open discussion,
Miss Katchourin commented that the discovery coincided in time with the finding of the
remains of a Mitbraic temple in London Mithraism being the bull cult which was widely
popular in military circles throughout the Roman Empire. Ronald Davison recalled that Minos
was king of Crete and that he was appointed after death as a judge of souls to decide to
which part of Hades the deceased should go. Since was regarded as an octave planet of, of ,
and e of if, it was not unreasonable that this latest discovery should be equated to , the
planet of judgment. There was also another link to by virtue of the fact that the sound Crete
occurred in the English word concrete, having the meaning of matter in its most solid form.
The longitude of the planet as given by Jean OvertonFuller differed slightly from that
specified by Prof. Dr. Kritzinger and published in Kosmobiologie. Since its mean motion was
about o per year, she suggested

that those who wished to experiment with it might find the following rough table of longitudes
helpful, see table In a subsequent issue of Astrology, the editor Table Ronald Davison noted
that Charles A. Jayne had written to him protesting Prof. Kritzingers calcu lations and
suggesting that the true position of Minos/Isis should be , this being the place ment of one of
his own series of hypothetical planets. Not too surprising I think, in view of that last
suggestion, the subject dropped out of public consideration in astrological circles for the next
years. I have an uncomfortable feeling that astrological speculations which are not based on
at least some astronomical foundation have a habit of proving to be mere castles in the air.
Astrology is essentially a system of interpretation and needs to be sure of having a firm
grounding in astronomical facts waiting to be interpreted. Only then can it be as free and
intuitive as it likes in reaching its conclusions without ever losing contact with reality. To
reverse the procedure and try to make astrology the exact science upon which astronomical
predictions can be based is to put the cart before the horse. With all due respect to the work
of Maurice Wemyss, Charles A. Jayne, the HamburgWitte school, the Dutch astrologer Ram,
and others, I cannot feel that the horse ever benefits from this.
S Originally, of course, the magi or wise men were astrologer and astronomer combined. In
medieval times they were known as mathematicians, still with the same dual connotation,
since it was they who first developed notable skill in that mysterious art which also had useful
application to the task of navigation of the earth itself, since they had realized this was
intimately related to the study of tile heavens. The fact that for the past years or so the
mathematical and observational foundation of astronomy/astrology has become completely
separated rom the interpretative aspect and now tries to coldshoulder it must not now tempt
us to react and try to combine the two as though there never was any distinction between
them. They always were two distinct matters even when practiced by the same persons.
Without a sure grounding in observation and mathematics, astrology CUIUlot ruly t exist as
such but shades off into alchemy and magic. Yet even today an analogous split to the
yearold one between pure astronomy and pure astrology tends to develop between the
mathematical astrologer and the astrologer with no head for figures who simply lets the
computer calculate the charts and progressions. The first goes in for complex systems of
prediction and tends to be very objective not to say rigid and unimaginative in his
interpretations, The other is far more intuitive and frequently develops more genuine insight
into the life situations he or she is dealing with. Each lends to look down on the other. The
mathematical astrologer says the intuitive type is unscientific, woolly and incompetent. The
intuitive one says the mathematical type is missing the whole true point of astrology by
subjecting everything to his mechanical eitheror, yes or no calculations. But both really need
each other.

Prof. Kritzingers planet was however brought to light again after nearly a quarter of a century
in the Winter / issue of Astrology. Ronald Davison then reported editorially that one of the
latest satellites had provided very strong evidence that there is indeed a planet orbiting the o
well beyond the orbit of E. He also mentioned Russian claims to have discovered a new
planet, although nothing more had been heard of these following the initial announcements.
Davison went on to say that while Prof. Kritzinger had given the name Minos to the new
planet, more recently tile name Persephone had been suggested. Persephone was the wife
of Hades, God of the Underworld, and King Minos too was appointed after death as a judge
of souls to decide to which part of Hades the deceased should go. He Davison therefore
hoped tilat the discovery of the planet would not herald increased activity in Hades resulting
from the misuse of the terrible sources of power developed since World War II. During his life
King Minos patronized a monster called the Minotaur, halfman and halfbull, which was
confined in a labyrinth and to which sacrifices were made. A lady called Ariadne eventually
assisted her lover Theseus, who was to have been a sacrifice, to slay the monster and then
find his way back out of the maze by following a thread she had given him to indicate his
route. Davisons comments on this in , which he felt bore repetition in view of the state of
world affairs in /, were quotEvery year seven youths and seven maidens were devoured by
the monster. The number seven was linked with the planetary principles the Minotaur
halfman, halfbull could represent the misuse of the natural powers of the world tile labyrinth,
the dilemma confronting modem man in his search to solve the riddle of existence. The
discovery of Minos could well herald a speeding up of the processes by which man would
eventually find a way out of the maze.quot
OR SOME REASON Minos appealed to my imagination or triggered something in my
subconscious when I first read the reference to it back in . Whereas I could never feel
anything more than a slight passing curiosity about Cupido or Admetos or Teiresias or any of
the other purely hypothetical astrologers planets, I have found myself following Minos in chart
after chart over the years with increasing amazement no pun intended. The bulk of this
article will consist in the

armounced that it had definitely discovered a new planet beyond Neptune.

examination of cases which illustrate what I mean. First, however, a few astronomical
remarks are necessary. The period of revolution of the planet is given as . years which, if its
orbit was perfectly circular and in the plane of the ecliptic, would mean that its yearly
increment in longitude would be just over half a degree. Its position in was given as to and in
as which represents an annual increment of just over Yz . However, Minos orbit is most
unlikely to be perfectly circular and in any case it has that inclination of to the ecliptic.
Neglecting any ellipticity in the orbit, that inclination alone will mean that even though its own
orbital speed is approximately constant, as seen from the Earth, it will appear to be almost
stationary in longitude for long periods while at others it will seem to move very swiftly. If it is
moving at its average velocity in longitude at the present time that must mean that it is at a
point in its orbit where it is crossing over either from apparent fast to slow longitudinal motion
or vice versa. We certainly cannot simply go on adding o per year indefinitely and imagine
we have the correct position. Probably we wont be more than a degree or so out by the
present date, but the sooner a detailed ephemeris based on the solid data by Prof.
Kritzingers calculations is published the better. We must also remember the phenomena of
retrograde and direct motion. With the exception of if, whose own orbital speed obscures the
effect, all the planets farther away from the than ourselves appear to tum retrograde once a
year as the Earth approaches longitudinal conjunction with them, becoming direct again
some time after the conjunction is passed. The actual distance they have moved forward in
longitude over a year can therefore only be judged by comparing their positions on the same
date from year to year. Within the year itself there will be a swing backwards and forwards
over whatever mean position has been reached due to retrograde and direct motion. In the
case of a comparatively near planet like the duration of the retrograde period is only
approximately four months but during that time will appear to move backwards ten degrees
or more. The farther away a planet is the nearer its period of retrogradation approaches half
a year the period it would have if it were itself motionless and all the effect were due to the
Earths orbital motion, and the less it appears to move backwards during that time. In the
case of f for instance, the retrogradation period in lasts from April th to October th and in that
time f appears to move back . Minos is a great deal farther away than f so it will be
retrograde for nearly half a year and direct for the other half. Its swing backwards and
forwards will probably be more than a degree back followed by a degree and a half forwards.
To come close to its true position we will need to bear this movement in mind. We only see
the true position of any planet from two positions of our own Earths orbit around the , namely
when we are in d or

if with it or, as it appears to us, when the is in if or d with it. These positions occur in the
center of the retrograde and direct periods of the planet, respectively. In the latter half of the
retrograde period and the first half of the direct period the planet is lagging behind its true
position. In the second half of the direct period and the first half of the retrograde one it is
ahead of its true position. For Minos, which is now in the early degrees of tt, this means that
we see it or would see it if we could see it in its correct location only around February th and
September st. Between September and February it is behind its heliocentric longitude and
between February and September it is in front of it. To arrive at the position as seen from the
Earth, which is the one which must be inserted into a horoscope, we must therefore subtract
a little less than one degree from the calculated position in the center of the laggingbehind
period that is, about December lst, and add one degree in the center of the forward period
approximately May th. To put the matter in racing language, what we now have to decide is
whether or not Minos is an animal worth backing. No one has yet seen him through a
telescope so we are not yet in a position to say he has proved a winner past the post. Form
is always a strong indicator of a contender worth watching, however, so we must use all the
information we possess at present to assess his past form. The basis we have to work form
is an orbit calculated mathematically from astronomical observations of perturbations of the
orbits of other planets and comets so we are not putting the cart before the horse. Let us see
where he was placed in some of the events which have taken place during the time period
for which we have a fairly exact specification of his supposed position. It will be easiest if we
begin by focusing on cases which bring out his association with the sign t. Admittedly, no
planet is adequately described simply by a list of characteristics of the sign he or she niles,
and t is also traditionaUy ruled by , along with the sign . Neither sign can truly be said to be
however, yet, all the same, despite the fact that she is most decidedly an entity in her own
right, both signs do have points which are strongly expressive of her. Similarly if has
characteristics which are strongly suggestive of both T and Ill and this despite the fact that f
is also quite definitely associated with Ill, even though neither T nor alone can give us a full
and adequate picture of him . ......n,, We are in the position where we have to try to work
from the little that seems to be known towards the great deal that is unknown. We cannot yet
write with the signature of Minos himself because at the present time we do not know
whether we

may think it is genuine or not. However, if there truly is a planet where Prof. Kritzinger says it
is, and if it rules as Jean OvertonFuller and others believe, then it will work this rulership
even while it slowly moves through whatever other sign it may happen to be in at any
particular time, just as other planets also work their own rulerships as they too move through
other signs. t, for instance, was in lTt during most of but he stimulated the House, sign and
aspects he had at birth in the charts of the lTt people he was then affecting, and also brought
the / areas of their charts into prominence. HAT DOES MINOS DO Out of the countless
assassinations which have disgraced our notably assassinationprone century probably the
most well known and most commented upon has been that ofU. S. President John F.
Kennedy, which occurred in Dallas, Texas at . p.m. CST on November nd, . President

on May th, at p.m. EST. His natal chart with the transits outer ring at the time of the
assassination is shown at Figure , with the natal and transit positions of Minos inserted. In
the present context we are naturally not concemed to make a deep study of all aspects of
this natal chart, nor of the circumstances of the assassination, but only to assess whether it
is possible that Minos was relevant to what occurred. All we need note in a general way,
therefore, is that the natal chart does show a risk of violent death since there is a satellium of
planets in ts on the VIIIth cusp, headed by if, all of them squared by in from cusp V. ts
suggests the neck as a focal point for injury and in in the Vth suggests a chance opportunity
taken by a leftwing political extremist idealist. Minos now comes into the picture because he
is placed in iO in the IVth House, close to the Ie. He is therefore saying something about
conditions at the end of life. we shall have to ask whether there was something which
characterized the way that end came about which was defmite and important yet which the
chart without Minos did not clearly and specifically describe. When we examine the transits
we note that the only area in which they make a significant contact with the natal chart is that
clustered about the transiting Ascendant, that is, quottgt just above it in , the transiting
Ascendant itself, and Minos just below it in . All other links are either further than from
exactness or consist only of weak and ambiguous aspects like the quincunx Assassination
natal , assassination if natal , etc.. quottgt, however, is only a degree away from the exact
square to natal if, the transiting Ascendant is exactly on the natal Vth cusp equal House
system, squaring the VIIIth cusp and a degree away from the square to and if on either side
of it, and Minos is within Y of the exact conjunction with and the exact square to to Out of
these three the Minos contact must count as the most significant. Since Minos moves so
slowly it is possible for it to remain in orbs for a year or more. One may surmise that a plan to
make an end of things IVth House as far as Kennedy was concemed had possibly been
brewing in certain minds for a very long time. They may have been Communist minds, but
not necessarily so. Something or someone else may simply have decided to cooperate with
and make use of communist organizations and leftorientated personnel for the purpose
Minos cf in . The precise opportunity presented itself when quottgt approached the to if
premeditated violence and precisely clicked at the time when the Ascendant in Dallas exactly
squared Kennedys VIIIth cusp, with quottgt and Minos all too revealingly placed one of either
side of it. Note that without Minos there was really nothing to activate that natal square from
to the VIIlth House planets. quottgt was technically still too far away and its to if was not
enough by itself to indicate an assassination as carefully planned, organized and brought off
as this one obviously was.

was if in ts on the VIIIth cusp. Minos, coruler of ts, was in t on the VIllth cusp. Kennedy got it
in the neck. How could the shot possibly have gone anywhere else In addition, we also have
our first indication of something about the value of Minos as he is in himself. An impenetrable
wall of mystery at once arose concerning the true circumstances of the death of President
Kennedy. Was Lee Harvey Oswald the real or only assassin He himself was murdered within
hours of his capture and the man who murdered him, Jack Ruby, died of a highly
suspiciously swift cancer in hospital before inquiries into his own background, motivations
and backers could be finalized. Suspicions that there were other shots from other quarters
have never been either confirmed or disproved finally. Worst of all, the more one probes the
mystery of Kennedys death the more one becomes enmeshed in a labyrinth with decidedly
threatening overtones. If one got to the center of it is all too probable there would be a
Minotaur of sorts waiting there to make an end of one.

OTQUITE AS WORLDSHAKING as the assassination of President Kennedy but in some
ways not far removed from it in significance and possible later repercussions was that of the
black civilrights leader Martin Luther King, who was shot in Memphis, Tennessee on April th,
.. Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta, Georgia N, W at . a.m. CST on January th see
Figure . Minos falls close to the equalHouse Xth House cusp, the midpoint between the
Ascendant in Yz t and the rising in b. The chart is not as obviously assassination prone as
Kennedys but it does show a mutable TSquare involving in the VIIIth c if in the lInd, both the
in the XIth. At the time of the assassination progressed if was in n, only from the exact c of ,
having been retrograde at birth but subsequently turning direct, thus returning to close the
natal aspect. On the actual day transiting t, natally in in the lIIrd House fairly close to the IC,
the end of life, was in ill, not exactly but still fairly closely c the natal f and if and , while
transiting f was passing through n and actually rf both natal and progressed if. It was
therefore a tricky time. One could not say from indications like these that assassination was
inevitable but certainly if

anyone had wanted to do it this was as good a time as any to have a shot at it. The general
political and emotional atmosphere would tend to be right and an opportunity would be likely
to present itself. What then of Minos On the assassination day if was in ti , Ylo away from the
exact to natal Minos in and from the natal Ascendant which had now become almost exactly
conjoined by progressed . In effect therefore, if was transiting just that point between natal
and the natal Ascendant which Minos squared at birth. What does it all add up to I think a
comparison of Kings chart with Kennedys sums it up. Kennedy was a popular president but
one whose popularity was beginning to crumble, like President Carters in later years of his
term, because of popular suspicion that as a Democrat he was insufficiently tough and adept
at handling the Communists. The Bay of Pigs fiasco was a disaster he was unlikely ever to
be able to live down. A fall from grace is clearly indicated in his chart by the closeness of tgt
to his natal Midheaven. Though his legend does survive in Democratic memories, a majority
of Americans probably feel that his assassination saved their country from serious disaster.
Martin Luther Kings case is on the face of it completely different. His rising and culminating
suggest an uninterrupted success story. Of course in very large measure, for a black from
the South, his life up till the time he was assassinated actually had been just such a success
story. However there are rumors how well authenticated I am unable to say that he was on
the verge of a fall. The FBI is said to have been on the point of bringing a case against him
for various illegal activities including drug peddling among other things, as well as for
Communist affiliations. But the assassination immediately elevated him to the position of a
saint from which no amount of rumoring has subsequently been able to dislodge him. To
some extent King had already reached this elevation during his lifetime. He was not merely a
civilrights leader he was the priest and apostle of the movement. Now Minos is next to the in
his chart. It is not the most elevated planet the is that but it follows it. It is interesting therefore
that only a few days before he was killed he made a speech in which he almost foresaw his
death and in which he used the phrase quotwe have climbed the highest mountain.quot He
knew, in other words, that he had reached the highest point possible for him, namely the on
his Midheaven. He realized that what had to be faced now was what he and the people he
led would meet as they coasted down the other side of the hill on

their way to the promised land. There would be the inevitable white backlash of resentment
at the height he had achieved and the prominence and publicity he had won for his cause.
And there of course waiting for him, the first minefield on his way down, was Minos. And he
too was shot in the neck. Why Well who did it James Earl Ray, the actual gunman, was
subsequently arrested as he stepped off a plane on his way to Europe. But be had been paid
to do it, and the precise identity and background of those who paid him was not so easy to
establish. Superficially it looks as though it should have been easy. Obviously those who
disliked AfricanAmericans and the civil rights movement wanted King dead. But a dead
Martin Luther King became a martyr and a saint almost a more potent figure than when he
was alive. Who benefited most from that especially if there is any truth in the rumors that he
would shortly have been discredited and disgraced had he remained alive Once again
therefore, as with Kennedy, we are up against a wall of mystery. Someone, somewhere,
seems to be manipulating and wirepulling. Perhaps the most obviously

prominent figures on the worlds political and religious stage are really only puppets, to be
removed whenever it suits someones plan to pay a stooge to fix it. And again, as with
Kennedy, it doesnt pay to inquire too closely into the matter. Is this the signature of Minos

ATURALLY NO PLANET operates solely in the political field and nowhere else so if we are
truly serious in our intention of finding out what Minos is essentially all about we shall have to
examine other areas of terrestrial life as well. Nevertheless if we are on the right track we
should be able to recognize something consistent,
something like a regular pattern emerging, in whatever field we are inves
tigating. Figure is the birth chart of Mrs. Vi Sainton, a lady who was a staunch Theosophist
for most of her life and who served several times as president of the Cape Town Lodge of
the Society. What concerns us here however is not her Theosophy but an unusual health
problem that she had. She suffered severe and increasing neck and head pains for to years

till investigation showed that she had an extra cervical rib. Instead of the rib cage ending
where the neck normally rises free above it, in her case an extra rib was growing out of one
of the neck vertebrae. It was pressing on nerves in the neck and causing the pain which she
suffered. A delicate operation was necessary to remove it without damaging the nerves it
affected, and even after this was performed it took several years before these irritated nerves
finally healed and settled down. Now the interesting aspect of this case is that there are no
planets in Taurus which would prima facie lead us to expect trouble with the neck area. and I
are placed in the VIth House, cI and I somewhat widely cI , but the signs involved are / and
not neck signs. t is on the Midheaven but one does not normally look to the Midheaven for
signs of problems affecting the physical body. Even its conjunction with the tJ would not
usually suggest an extra rib. Q is on the Ascendant with its ruler, the , placed in in the XIIth.
does rule the rib cage but not the neck. Why then should an extra rib have developed from
the neck Minos in this case provides a perfect answer. He is placed in the Vlth House along
with and I but his cI to is exact, not wide as Is is. Thus the two rulers of t, and Minos, are
precisely opposed, and Minos is in the VIth House of health in / which is the general ruler of
the bony skeleton of the body. The cI aspect warns of the possibility of something going
wrong and the wide rf of Minos with I and cI of the latter to confirms the pain that this would
cause. The MinosP t rulership pinpoints the trouble precisely in the neck. The absence of
direct indications of t affecting health matters is what makes this chart one of the very best
proofs I know of that Minos does have an undoubted link with this sign. In addition there is
also something else we should carefully notice and bear in mind. In itself this was not an
injury case but one of an inappropriate body building block /O/t having been supplied or
prescribed by the genetic control center. Once again therefore we may be dealing with the
subject of control of outward appearances and happenings from a level we normally know
very little about, though in a different context from the two political cases previously
examined. Of course one would need not just one but many, many cases before one could
really say one has given adequate proof of any such esoteric control really being exercised
by this planet, and I freely admit that it was only when I began to notice the pattern after
studying a very large number of Minos charts that I realized it was also discernible here. If I
am light however I can shorten the time which other researchers may need for investigation
by pointing out all the clues I am aware of now in each chart as I present it.

URELY ON THE physiological level the next chart Figure does seem to confirm what I have
been suggesting. Neville Prehn is the rather sad case of a child crippled from birth as the
result of a spinal malformation. Coming as he did from a South African poorwhite family of
children, his parents could do little or nothing for him and he was placed in a home for
disabled crippled children. Here he went on all fours like an animal till he was eleven years
old, his head hanging down yet contorted forwards so that he could try to see where he was
going. When he was a surgeon visited the home and noticed him. Though it was already late
for major surgery to set right the gross malformation from which Neville suffered such an
operation should be performed within the first year after birth, this man said to him Im going
to straighten you out.quot There followed a series of operations which unfortunately were
only partially successful. Neville still cannot walk nor stand fully upright. He can however ride
a bicycle, which enables him to get about and live independently outside a hospital. But in
South Africas rather harsh social welfare climate it has also meant the revocation of a tiny
disability pension he received for a while on the grounds that he is now technically capable of
working though in actual fact he cannot hold down a job. Somehow he remains cheerful, with
a strong religious outlook, and survives with the aid of help from wellwishers. He once
competed in a bicycle race from Johannesburg to cape Town miles and has even been able
to make a trip overseas. In his chart Minos falls in the Xth House, above the XIth cusp,
without notably strong aspects. There is a to the and a weak to j but I think this would have
been a case where I could have felt he was not strong enough to merit particular notice had it
not been for one thing there is a mutual reception between him and j. This is enough to alter
the whole picture and raise Minos from a position of weakness to perhaps the strongest
planet in the chart. To explain why will require a short preliminary discussion of the general
subject of planetary dignities and dispositorships. The and are exalted but, , if and are in
detriment and and j are in their fall. This overall lack of dignity is quite characteristic of cases
of bodily malformation and also occurs frequently where the native is the victim of attack, as
in rape and homicide cases. Since no planet is in essential dignity that is, in its own sign
there cannot be one which disposes of everything else in the chart. Where this occurs, in
cases where one planet alone is in its own sign and all the others are disposed of in one way
or another in a chain ultimately leading back to it, then in effect it becomes the true filler of
the chart. It is stronger even than the Ascendant

ruler since it also disposes of the latter. Frequently however the chain will be interrupted
before any planet in its own sign is reached. A series of planets may dispose of each other in
a continuous circle. In such a case no particular one is singled out for strengthening. The
most important case of interruption, however, is a mutual reception between two planets.
Since these dispose of each other no other planet can dispose of either of them. In charts
where no planet is in its own sign the chain of dispositorships within the chart as a whole
may end in such a mutual reception, and in such a case the two planets concerned may be
said to share an overall rulership. Now in Nevilles case there is at first sight another mutual
reception which could challenge the claim of Minos and to ultimate rulership. if is in , ruled by
, and in Ill, traditionally ruled by if. However, if is here in s positive or day sign while is in ifs
negative or night one, the one it shares with to This is technically not a full reception
therefore. On the other hand is in Minos only sign and Minos is in only sign so

these two become unquestionable ultimate dispositors of the chart. Since Minos is the more
elevated of the two he is technically the strongest planet. Since he rules in mutual reception
with gtilt this means that everything which this chart signifies is ultimately governed and
conditioned by these two planets working in square. Hence once again a wrong prescription
of body building blocks from the genetic control center in this case a gross one affecting not
merely the neck alone, producing the contorted position of the head, but the whole spine.
When the surgeon decided to operate, when Neville was , Minos had arrived at Y m, exactly
to natal j. In addition, was stationary for a good part of that year ill Yzo Q. The attempted
remedial process therefore beganquot under an exact fixed TSquare focused upon gtilt in
While j is an appropriate planet under which to attempt remedial work requiring specialized
scientific medical knowledge and technical skill, its placement in t, where it is in its fall, and
the general TSquare formation hardly constituted together a favorable augury. t is the most
fixed of all the fixed signs and Nevilles bones had become too solidified and intractable. An
improvement was brought about but not a cure. And note how sadly but appropriately the
focus of the TSquare on the lInd House cusp was reflected in an actual cutting down of his
means of livelihood The structural pattern of the body is determined at cellular level and
coded in the genes which are strung out along chromosomes in each cell nucleus. The cells
themselves are the basic building blocks of the bodythe t stones or bricks. The genes are like
Pharaohs catouche inscribed on each stone of the pyramid the builders mark which
determines precisely where it is to be placed. If Minos controls this coding then we are onto a
very important planet indeed. And the possibility that it does is not really so very far fetched.
e as ruler of l. may be said to preside over the generative process together with all the
jealousies, possessiveness and emotional intensities incidentally associated therewith. Minos
as ruler of the opposite and complementary sign t should therefore be expected to have
some connection with the fundamental processes of bodily growth. Some impressive
evidence which has been building up over the past quarter of a century since Prof. Kritzinger
located Minos position I think strongly supports the idea that this is, at the very least, a
special field of interest of his, if he is not in fact the Pharaoh who imprints his signature on it
Before I go into this evidence in detail however I want to consider four more charts which
provide further proof that he does actually exist. This is after all the fundamental question.

HE NEXT TWO horoscopes both concern cases where the native seems to have taken a
wrong turning in life with results that proved to be permanent and irrevocable. In both of them
Minos role was probably significant and very possibly he was the factor which caused one
particular wrong decision to set, resulting in a course of action and life pattern which became
a fixed determinant of the whole lifes destiny. For the first case I do not have an exact time
but only the place and date of birth. For my present purpose which is simply to illustrate the
role of Minos in the life situation this is sufficient. In Victor Neuberg was a young Jewish
sudent just starting Ius first year of a Modern Languages course at the University of
Cambridge. He was also a promising poet and an agnostic. Before going up to Cambridge he
had been subeditor of the Agnostic Journal which had incidentally also published several of
his poems. He was reacting against a rather suffocating orthodox and cloying Jewish
childhood hence the agnosticism, but in most respects his future prospects seemed fairly
bright. At age Y he had originally been put into the family business importing canes, fibers
and rattans but now he was and his uncle Edward had appreciated he was not cut out for
business. Accordingly he had agreed to pay for him to study at Britains foremost seat of
learning. Three years earlier Victor had announced his renunciation of his Judaic background
in a poem published in the Freethinker, October , Vale Jehovah What if to the Race I was

sense of direction. Agnosticism is explicitly an unbelief. It is difficult to advance confidently
towards any future, however bright, if one is determined only to walk backwards incessantly
repeating dont believe ..... quot However, for the time being Victors uppermost feeling was
one of joy at being released from the office. He was happy. Into his life there then walked
Aleister Crowley. As a former student of Trinity it was in order for Crowley to visit his old
college even though he was not then studying at the University. He was and already an
experienced occultist and magician. He was also rumored to be a pederast. At that time
however the almost endless list of iniquities with which he would later be associated in the
public mind through newspaper coverage of him as the wickedest man in the world was still a
matter for the future. He just walked into Victors room one day and explained his call by
saying he had read some of the latters poems in the Agnostic Journal and found them
interesting because they showed experience in astral travel. Almost immediately Victors not
knowing began to transform itself into an urge to know, by means of magical experimentation
under Crowleys guidance. Even as a child he had sensed that the outer world we experience
objectively was no more than the rind of the real. He was by nature a mystic looking for
someone who could guide him. Crowley claimed to be the guide sent by Inner Plane
command in answer to his inward call and Victor took him at his word. The association
developed slowly at first, mainly in the form of periodic meetings to smoke marihuana
together in order to get out onto the AstraL In the summer of however they went on a walking
tour together in Spain and from this date onwards there began a homosexual relationship
between them which on Victors part consisted in being genuinely head over heels in love. He
expressed his feelings in poetry which makes no secret whatever of this fact. For the next six
years they were inseparable. Victor had a natural mediumistic ability which, added to his
interest in and instinctive feeling for the gods of Greek and Egyptian mythology, made him
the perfect instrument for magician CrowleyS evocation of these divinities for magical
purposes. Victor would dance the role of the god, and more than one witness of his
performances later testified that something genuinely demonic entered into him at these
times. The dance became not just a performance but an actual manifestation of the god.
After various travels, including a trip to Algeria and the Sahara desert where they
experimented with some magical calls which had been taught

by spirits to the Elizabethan Magus Dr. John Dee through the scryer Edward Kelly years
earlier, their collaboration culminated in the first two months of in what is known as the Paris
working. This was a series of magical evocations, each one triggered by an initial
homosexual act. Crowley later claimed that the entire working had generated such a buildup
of magical potential on the Inner Planes that it was the true esoteric cause of the st World
War Then they suddenly broke up. Victor refused to do any further work with Crowley or
even to see rum again. Crowley tried to make him change his mind but without success.
When he fmally realized and accepted the fact that Victors decision was final, he ritually
cursed rum. Nevertheless it was not really the end of the matter for Victor. Though he never
did work with Crowley again and even though a few years after the war he married more or
less conventionally and settled down in the country with a printing press, printing his own
poems and those of his friends, he was never genuinely free of the past. Crowley attempted
to recruit him again in and he could not face him. To avoid the meeting he had to take refuge
in an address unknown till Crowley had left the area. Again and again in oblique forms and
disguises references to his bisexuality, his mystical identity and destiny, and his identification
with various god figures appear in his poems. He never found his true sense of direction nor
a lifes purpose which was unquestionably his own. The biography of him written by Jean
OvertonFuller reveals clearly and unequivocally that Crowley was the one central figure in his
life. Their magical love relationship was the formative influence upon all his thinking and all
his emotional feeling. Apart from Crowley he was an undistinguished minor poetaster with no
claim to be remembered on his own account. As happened with Edward Kelly and John Dee
however, his association with Crowley gave him a claim to be remembered. Together they
achieved what neither could have achieved alone, and posterity will always associate him
with The Vision and the Voice, the record of their Sahara expedition of when they worked the
DeeKelly angelic evocations. Even so, seen from his own point of view his life was not a
success, just as Kellys was not. After leaving Dee, Kelly worked at the court of the Emperor
Rudolph for a while as an alchemist, but was eventually imprisoned in the castle of Zemer for
failing to make alchemical gold. He died falling from the ramparts of the castle while
attempting to escape. Victor suffered imprisonment of another kind. In he married a woman
who had very little in common with him either in respect to his sensitivity or artistic taste. She
was frequently unfaithful. In he left her to stay with another lady with whom he shared more
interests but who eventually

came to dominate his life almost completely, deciding which of his friends were and which
were not to be permitted, censoring his activities and watching over his reputation. In a sense
he ended his life in another form of the cloying and suffocating loving care in which he had
been brought up in his orthodox Jewish childhood home. He died ofTB in May . Victor
Neuberg was born in London on May th, . He had red hair as a child though this later turned
black. On account of his hair he himself wondered if his Ascendant was T. I have preferred to
suggest a chart with / rising as being more consonant with the dominant role which sexual
activities played in his life and also because the published photographs of him definitely
suggest this sign. / is in any case the exaltation of if and can quite often give reddish hair in
youth. Moreover in her book.quot Miss OvertonFuller cites a revealing and characteristic
anecdote of an occasion when Victor and some acquaintances were discussing the
likenesses of various of their friends to different animals. quotAnd you you are awfully
goatlike,quot one of them said to him. Under .his sallowness he stiffened and seemed to go
deathly white. They asked him why he was so upset. With his head in his hands he
eventually murmured, was one.quot Crowley had cursed him in the form of a goat The chart
as set up with / on the Ascendant is of course not evidential in respect of anything related to
House position or the Ascendant itself and I am not advancing it as such in respect of the
rising Minos. Nevertheless such a chart would be quite characteristic of an offbeat character
such as he undoubtedly was in general and could also describe the particular slant the
offbeatedness took in his particular case. The tremendous concentration of planets focused
within a arc accords well with his artistic bent and devotion to poetry his own and that of
others if it is placed in the Vth House, and since it includes q and in it is also appropriate that
he should have been engaged in printing and publishing ventures himself to further this
devotion. Such a Vth House concentration would also indicate an overwhelming emphasis
upon the love nature as the source of his creativity and with the Sun and Neptune conjoined
on the cusp of the House one would expect an idealistic, mystical form of love to manifest
itself possibly also with an element of perversity associated with it.

The close conjunction of and d in T also speaks of an intense, impulsive love nature. When it
falls as here in the llIrd House but close to cusp IV equal House it shows how he could not
stand the restrictive religious prudery of his childhood home and was determined to say as
much. One of his poems published in the Agnostic Journal when he was years old is an
explicit renunciation of chastity. I do not think however that there is anything in this chart,
whether with or without a / Ascendant, which definitely suggests homosexuality. As itstands it
is something of a mystery why his life pattern should have turned in that direction until Minos
is inserted. With Minos in position all becomes clear. The stories we have about King Minos
in Greek mythology recount his sexual adventuring all over the Eastern Mediterranean area
and include a homosexual affair with Ganymedes.quot Homosexuality as such was not his
forte but Ganymedes was

the most beautiful youth alive exactly how Victor describes Crowley in his poetry. In his chart
Minos falls in almost exact square to the midpoint of the highly sexual dquot if a conjunction
which by itself merely warns of impulsiveness and imprudence in love affairs with a touch of
shamelessness since is in her detriment in T. And Victors early poetry is indeed exhibitionist
and shameless. A close square thrown by another planet to such a configuration warns of
more serious trouble however trouble which would be likely to become a life pattern.
Naturally if Minos is rising, as in my speculative chart, the position is all the more serious
because of its prominence. The , which already has that tendency towards unconventionality
and idealism because of its conjunction with , is in trine to Minos. If this trine is working
through the Ascendant and the Vth House it will mean a focusing of the creative urge in the
form of loveart which expresses personal feelings of selfdiscovery precisely what Victors love
poetry is all about. And Minos is also in mutual reception with iJ also in the Vthquot, which
greatly increases his strength. in his own sign IIdisposes of but everything else in the chart is
disposed of by the Minos iJ mutual reception. This configuration emphasizes materiality. The
two earthy Earth signs t and to are involved plus their rulers, i.e., iJ, most external, objective
and materialistic of all the planets, and Minos, who probably represents not objective matter
itself but that which is behind or at the root ofthe material universe. Now Victor was not a
materialist quite the reverse in fact. But he did have an obsessive concern with materialistic
values. His life was one long insistent rejection of them. As a result he hardly ever for one
moment lost consciousness of them. How could he in any case with a chart in which no
fewer than six planets are in Earth signs seven if Minos is included and where there may also
be a Grand Trine in Earth if my suggested Ascendant is correct Yet he protested. Why The
protest is partly indicated by the if in t reversal of what t normally stands for, and partly by the
emphasized mutual reception of Minos and iJ. He elected to stand for what underlies the
material world in preference to the material world itself. Yet the obsession remained an
obsession and Victor could never happily settle down and live an untroubled life expressing
positively what he felt he was in himself. His was always the negative affirmative. The
nearest he ever got to positive affirmation was while he was identified with Crowley and
Crowleys magic, but that
Rome because it afforded religious justification for a gown mans passionate love of a

was in a love relationship which was itself an affirmation of something negative about his
own sexual identity. Take thou my body, now hermaphrodite.
This is an obsessive chart. A concentration of six planets within a are, whatever House it
may be placed in, can give tremendous potential for concentration and achievement in some
narrowly confined field but essentially it is an imbalance. All too frequently it results in an idee
fixe rather than in real achievement. This is what I think happened to Victor. Then Minos
controlled the situation from his position outside the bundle but in reception with the planet at
the center of it. Thus he was always really at the mercy of someone else, whether it was his
maternal aunt Hannah who dominated the Household where he was brought up, or Crowley,
or the lady who took care of him and ruled him for the last ten years of his life. However
much he said quotJ wont be that its not mequot subconsciously it was him. In love he was
always searching for his real self the person who would incarnate the reality he could identify
with and express positively instead of through incessant denial. Therefore control always
reasserted itself. Truly a Minosruled life, wherever Minos was placed. HE HOROSCOPE of
Aleister Crowley does not particularly emphasize Minos. This I think is what one would
expect. He was certainly not a person notably subject to control by others and neither was
his life either dramatically changed or ended by them. He had drastic effects upon the lives of
most of the people who came closely into contact with him, but not primarily because he was
essentially interested in them and what he could do to them. He /, was interested in himself
and his own ideas Wbo loves quot I YOU, baby and ideals and anyone else who involved
himquot. , self with these and with him had to be responsible to himself and himself alone for
the consequences. In I wrote an article which was published in Astrologyquot dealing with his
chart and those of several other Cagliostrotype figures who came into prominence round
about the turn of the century, all of whom in one way or another founded a type of
quasireligious movement.

Thus Madame Blavatsky inspired the Theosophical Society, now a worldwide movement
Rudolf Steiner gave rise to Anthroposophy and G. I. Gurdjief has directly or indirectly
influenced a host of groups who are now trying to realize his ideal of the harmonious
development of man. Crowley actually styled himself a Master in the style of the Indian
mahatmas and professed to be beginning the religion of Crowleyanity. I pointed out in the
article that the chart of each one shows an exact r of two planets not always the same two in
the degrees Q to . This appears to be a kind of Cagliostro degree area in the tropical Zodiac,
facilitating the appearance of arrogant, fascinating, spellbinding figures who have a certain
amount of real knowledge and power but who exercise an influence far beyond the little that
is justified by their actual abilities because of mankinds own subconscious longing for a
prophet and leader. This longing rapidly builds a myth around them and the true disciples
soon begin to argue passionately about the correct interpretation of this, showing
unequivocally that it is the myth and not the actual

teaching or personality of the leader that is in control. No particular planet or star is
concerned in the Q axis which of course moves backwards through the constellations as the
tropical Zodiac precesses. It, like other degree areas studied by C. E. O. Carter, Maurice
Wemyss and several other astrologers, is an inherent property of the tropical Zodiac itself. I
refer to it here because I believe that it, and not Minos, is the true secret of Crowleys
extraordinary life, which has made him the legendary magician/occultist of the th Century.
What little Minostype effect he did have on a few people whom he deliberately used, of
whom Victor Neuberg was of course one, was largely incidental. One may perhaps see it
indicated in the placement of Minos on the Vlth cusp equal House, distant from the ffi. When
Crowley died in a boarding House in Hastings, England in his estate was valued at shillings
and sixpence.quot Whatever he mayor may not have done to other people in his lifetime,
therefore, he hadnt made a fortune out of them.
HE SECOND of the two wrongturning charts see Figure must be considered potentially even
more obsessive than that of Victor Neuberg since it presents no fewer than seven planets all
clustered in , along with the O. It is the nativity of a lady who as a child and young woman
showed remarkable initiative, courage and independence of spirit. Brought up in a region of
South Africa which is still very much a country district and which was quite wild and out back
when she was a girl, she became a natural confident horserider almost as soon as she had
learnt to walk. In her teens she became the first woman to ride a horse bareback from
Worcester to Cape Town, a distance of over miles, over rough tracks as regular roads had
not yet been made. Intellectually she was no less enterprising. Not having been taught
French at
Krishnamurti might easily have become a similar figure but he saw the process beginning in
his life time and protested against it and disavowed it before it could get properly under way.
Rupert Gleadow, in his note to Crowleys chart, published in John Symonds biography of
Crowley, The Great Beast London Rider amp Co., , page , points out that his birth was only
known to have occurred between and p.m. Crowley therefore used . p.m. as the nearest
approximation to the correct time. He Gleadow suggested . p.m. was more likely as it
produced a better correlation with events in Crowleys life. This would give an almost exact
conjunction of Minos with Ea. Those who served Crowley VIth house during his lifetime
certainly contributed to his fulfilment in life, though they were deliberately, systematically and
quite heartlessly controlled and manipulated by him. Note that Minos is not given extra
importance by reception. He is disposed by like everything else in Crowleys chart, where she

school she taught herself the language so that she could read Moliere and Comeille and the
French novelists in their own tongue. She was interested in a hundred things and had both
the energy and the ability to concentrate and so bring them within the range of possibility an
exact demonstration of the focusing potentiality of an exact rf J and a strong sateLlium of
planets in one sign. However, even in her youth the XIIth House placing of all these planets
began to assert itself. Circumstances forced her into the position of having to accept
responsibility for looking after a seles of no less than five close relatives, all of whom became
sick and helpless in one way or another her mother, her father, an aunt, another aunt, and
finally her elder sister. She willingly cared for them all, one after another, demonstrating
endless patience and untiring energy. Indeed she derived a deep satisfaction from the
service despite the restriction of her own activities which it inevitably involved. But restriction
it was, and even more explicit restriction had also asserted itself as early as her school days.
At school she achieved an A in every subject she studied and she won a bursary in

botany which could have taken her to study at the University of Cape TOWIl.Her father,
however, refused to allow her to take up the bursary, saying her first duty must be to her
home and her parents.Then, at age , she married and this was the great turning point of her
life. The service she had willingly rendered to sick relatives became transformed into
complete subservience in marriage. She allowed herself to submerge her own personality
and interests entirely in one pointed concentration upon those of her husband. The comment
will of course be made that this was the universal pattern of marriage in the th Century and
although it was being modified it had by no means died out in many, many cases in the first
quarter of our present century. However, even in the th Century original and independent
women did exist and preserved their independence in marriage because they married
husbands who appreciated their intelligence and spirit. What is different in this case is the
degree of submergence and the willingness of reversal of what had been the earlier pattern
of life. Her husband was a good enough man, if somewhat crotchety and selfcentered at
times, but he was absolutely without any intellectual or artistic interests. He worked for most
of their married life, till his retirement, as stores superintendent for a food packing finn. They
had two daughters and it is by courtesy of one of these who considers her mother a classic
case of wrong turning that I have this chart. Her mother herself might well have disagreed
entirely. However, after such a youth, to spend a lifetime accompanying a husband watching
light TV programs and soap operas in place of adventuresome reading and attendance at
concerts and plays, and to achieve a state of mind which could reply, when asked
quotMummy, whats you favorite colorquot with Well, dear, Davids favorite color is red,quot
was surely to have gone wrong somewhere. It was a case of complete surrender of control.
And the result was complete reversal of what the life might otherwise have been. Minos in
this chart is the ruler of the Midheaven, the career and status, and he is placed in the VIth
House, which governs the health and everyday circumstances of life. He is close to the VIIth
cusp however and though he is not in the VIIth House sign he has a close cI to right along
the AscendantDescendant axis. is the last planet of the satellium and in some ways the most
powerfully placed of them aU since he is only a degree away from the Q Ascendant and also
d ffi. stands for reversals for doing the opposite of what is expected, or for doing what is
expected for reasons which are the opposite of what other people imagine or understand.
When he conjoins EBfulfillment in life is sought through a reversal of this type, and
sometimes it is achieved perhaps perversely. In this chart I read the cI to the MC ruler along
the IVII line to be the decisive controlling configuration. It takes precedence even of the ,
even though

she conjoins and disposes of the chartruler, , as well as every other planet except J., who is
in his own sign and rules the Descendant. The Xllth House Jl, strong through Essential
Dignity, did indeed promise willing selfsacrifice and idealism but she would not have
demanded complete selfabnegation and surrender of control to another. That demand, in all
its perversity, came from Minos ifgt . And together these two were stronger than the
essentially dignified J. too, who might have been expected to cause an upheaval or break out
from a too restrictive marriage. There was no divorce. Minos ifgt was the career. Wherever
Minos falls, in any chart, I look for some directing or controlling influence in the life something
which tends to push it in a certain direction. If he is not in any way emphasized the effect
may not be strong, but it will be there. In my own chartquot there is no particular emphasis
but he falls in the VIIth House and is my ts J in the Xth House. Under appropriate contacts to
this square at age I was knocked down by a car and suffered a broken collar bone, ts. At age
there was further contacts. I had cerebralspinal meningitis that year, which I attribute to other
directions in force, but the results which followed were absolutely typical of a Minos affliction.
My parents decided this was the time to finalize my future career, while I was convalescing
and not in a strong enough condition either mentally or physically to decide and insist on my
own direction. As a result I was propelled upon a course of study to become a doctor a
complete wrong turning which eventually proved a total fiasco Y years later. Minos in the
VIIth, ruling the XIth objectives in life but squaring and disposing J in the IXth Others with the
planet in better aspect to important signficators will have better luck. Even so, they are still
likely to experience the effect of a directing hand, though it may be a wise and benevolent
one. Or, as in the case of Crowley, they may be presented with an opportunity to direct and
control the lives of others. As far as Minos own placement in the VIIth is concerned, I may
say that subsequently in two marriages I had experience of enormous, not too subtle,
controlling influences exerted on my career. ONTROL OVER ONES OWN SELF specifically,
control over the physical form of ones own self is the subject matter of the last chart I shall
consider here. It is the natal chart and transits for the first operationstage of a man
undergoing sexchange to become a woman. Paradoxically perhaps, I am not primarily
concerned with the subject of sexchange itself in presenting this chart. I am acquainted with
three other sexchange natal charts and to me the interesting thing about them is

the fact that each one is totally individual and quite different from all the others. I would
therefore not venture to say that at present I can confidently point to whatever it is that is the
astrological significator of this syndrome. Just as homosexuals and lesbians may be born
under any sign of the Zodiac and are now reckoned to make up approximately of any normal
population group, so also transvestitism and transsexuality which are more closely related
together than either of them are to homosexuality, probably exist in a latent state in a definite
proportion of the population everywhere. Just so do the rarer isotopes of common material
elements exist alongside all the well known ones, mixed in with them and combining
chemically with other clements together with them. We didnt know about them till recently
because techniques to separate them out so that they could be examined individually were
not available till recently. Similarly, the social pressure of prejudice against all deviant forms
of sexuality, reinforced by primitive legal enactments, has effectively prevented most people
knowing just how widespread they really are till little more than the day before yesterday,
though they have always existed. Sober recognition of the fact that they do exist and have
always existed is an important change which has come about gradually during the course of
this century. In addition to this, however, an even more significant development has occurred
over the past thirtyfive years or so. Nowadays a man or woman who is unhappy with tile
sexual status he or she was born with may go to a doctor and ask for it to be altered. After
some preliminary psychiatric consultation to ensure that the request reflects a genuine need
and is not merely the product of a disturbed state of mind, hormone therapy and surgery will
be employed to change the sex. Humanity is thus extending control into one more area of
objective experience into the most intimate area of all, since clearly far more is involved here
than merely the form of the physical body alone. That was the position when it was just a
matter of removing an appendix or even transplanting a heart but what is really being altered
now is an individuals idea of himself or herself. The way he or she can form the most intense
physical and emotional relationship known to humankind is part of selfconsciousness itself.
It is worth while taking time to say again that transvestitism and transsexuality have always
existed. There are references to them in the Bible and they were well known in ancient Rome
where male worshippers of the Great Mother would castrate themselves, be given female
clothing, and live thereafter as women. However, a true sexchange facility has only really
become generally available since around , the same time as Prof. Kritzinger announced the
location of Minos. It is significant there

particular subject or an area of life which is of intense importance to the native if he or she is
to achieve deep fulfillment in life. However much success a chart may indicate in other fields,
fulfillment will be denied if is affiicted and it cannot be achieved in this field. Conversely, great
difficulties in life generally may be indicated, but if this point be well aspected and strong
there may still be a good sense of overall fulfillment in life. In my personal experience with a
great many natal charts I have found this definition to be generally reliable. In the present
case, therefore, in the VIIIth cf Minos suggests to me not merely a need to find fulfillment in
sex relations and the deeper shared emotional experiences of life generally, which will be
common to all that twelfth of humanity who have in the VIIIth, but a need to find it through
control of this whole area of life. But the c from promises difficulties difficulties which might be
dormant or be suppressed beneath the surface for years but which would eventually
generate such pressure that they would have to come to the surface and demand
expression. This is in fact what happened. James, a highly trained computer systems analyst
ruler in mutual reception with , disposing of all else in the chart, was able to have a
successful, conventional career and sexual life until early middle age. He was married for
years and became the father of two children, a daughter and a son. However, beneath the
surface a yearning for personal selfexpression in identification with instead of merely in
relationship with the opposite sex always existed within him, and from time to time it caused
problems within the marriage. His wife objected to his possessing articles of female clothing,
high heeled shoes, etc. He could not talk about his feelings to her because in her view the
subject posed a threat in many ways similar to alcoholism that is, it was not just a private
matter but something which might ruin the lives of the wife and children and all others closely

The development of the Atomic Bomb is usually spoken of and written about quite incorrectly
in astrological circles as if it were a purely Uranian achievement. it is of course true that the
scientific research which made it possible at all developed ultimately out of the scientific and
industrial revolution which began back in the th Century, the century in which j was
discovered., but the background to this particular invention cannot be summed up and
disposed of quite so simplistically as reference to that line of descent alone would imply.
Credit for discovering the true nature of the atom and for formulating it mathematically must
go in Uranian form to Einstein, Niels Bohr and others early this century. The actual first
splitting of the atom was achieved by Cockcroft in the early s the beginning of the E age
working on the basis of their earlier theoretical work. Development of the bomb then split into
two camps. Fastest progress was at first made in Germany, i.e. under rightwing aegis, and
the scientists there were actually aiming primarily not at a fission but at a fusion bomb, the
vastly more explosive concept which was eventually realized in the s in the shape of the
Hydrogen bomb. Research in the West began in a mad rush when scientists defecting from

nominally in support of reason and rationality, so although it does shake the world it doesnt

When I first worked on this article, nearly ten years ago, I noted two things which really
began to get under way just prior to and during the s and which seemed to be posing a
challenge to governments and civil and religious society the world over. These two were a

first of all. Over the past dozen years publications of the general character of Readers Digest
or Time magazine, as well as the weekend editions of practically every newspaper, all at
some time or other, have carried an article giving a snippet of fascinating but chilling
information about some university laboratorys research on fetuses and genes and what can
be done with them. We all know now about testtube babies, and how a fertilized ovum can
be fed and induced to grow and develop entirely outside a normal human womb. One of two
twin fetuses can be taken and frozen and then be replanted in a uterus a generation or more
later, resulting in identical twins differing in age by , or years. A whole batch of fertilized eggs
or tiny fetuses which would be difficult to transport in test tubes from one part of the world to
another can be injected into a rabbits womb, where they are nourished and kept warm until
they are extracted again a few hours or days later in another country. The suggestion has
been made that this method might be developed to save space and weight in the event of a
project to colonize another planet.

Then there is cloning. Every cell of any living organism has the potential to divide and grow
till it reproduces the complete organism. TIllS fact has been known since the tum of the
century in connection with very simple organisms. Now however it is regularly used with
more complex ones and the ability to duplicate a whole human being from one skin cell may
already be accomplished scientific fact. Most disturbing of all however is the work being done
to change actual gene structure. Again one could cite a host of reports. I take one at random
from the Argus Cape Town, South Africa for June st, eleven years agol. It describes work
carried out at the University of Southampton, England, under the direction of Dr. Norman
Maclean, to introduce genes from mice and frog cells into the chromosomes of the nucleus of
a fertilized trouts ovum. The frogs gene makes the protein globulin and should improve the
trouts respiratory efficiency, enabling it to live in warmer waters than at present and survive
where oxygen levels are low. One of the mouse genes controls the production of growth
hormone, leading to fish that convert food more efficiently, grow faster and end up larger
than ordinary trout. Another one controls metallic absorption and may also speed up
reproduction, enabling a lake or river to be populated with trout several times more quickly
than is possible with the natural fish. Once their genes are integrated into the genetic line
they are passed on to subsequent generations, producing in effect a new genus or species.
Such research is of course already being utilized to produce better strains in plants and
animals which are valuable as food and can be farmed. As with all vivisectiontype research,
however, there will also be application of what is discovered on humanity itself. This
capability to design a human race which would be able to survive and reproduce itself on
another planet with a completely different atmosphere and climatic conditions from Earth is
becoming if it has not already become a reality. But so has the prospect of breeding worker
races, ideally adjusted for the carrying out of certain essential tasks such as mining and
some industrial operations, and perhaps also farming, but incapable of the full human
potential of higher thought and awareness the possibility foreseen and warned of seventy
years ago by Aldous Huxley in Brave New World and in the forties by George Orwell in
Animal Farm. Over the past fifteen years the colossal threat to humanitys future posed by all
this research has been belatedly realized. Religious groups and politicians with a sense of
conscience have begun to campaign for controls to be devised and enforced. The difficulty
however is to know

the DNA strands called chromosomes, each one studded with thousands of microscopic
switches known as genes, which specify height, weight, strength, skin color, eye color, hair
color, and every other detail of our physical beings including the physical basis of intellectual
ability and emotional responsiveness. The nucleus of life comprises the blueprint for our
incarnatory vehicle, the body we walk around in and think in and feel in and take for granted
as our self. As I said at the end of my discussion of Neville Prehns chart, it is the realm of in
its most subtle aspect as the essential principle of physical experience. Research into it really
began to take off in the s, following the publication of the elements of the orbit of Minos by
Prof. Kritzinger in . I suggest that that publication signified Minoss permission and
encouragement to humanity to begin the ultimate delving into his sphere, for the first time in
recorded history. Cryptocracy is a less easy subject to deal with in the space of a few pages.
As the word itself implies, it wants to remain secret. This, that or the other manifestation of it
can be cited, and it wont necessarily object to the suggestion that it could exist, in theory, but

cryptocracy represents a kind of alliance of planetary principles which find they can operate
more effectively to achieve their own purposes when they work together than when separate.
I am not referring now to aspects or angular placements but to something very like a real
agreement between people to assist each other the kind of thing we see in the business

this was the way the Greeks understood the planets to work that is, not as quasiscientific,

that the theoretical professors who taught it were the people who held the reins of power.
That was always in the hands of people behind the scenes who appointed them, and who
also nominated and vetted most of the front people who held political office. Marxism was a
faith is a faith and as such it was there to be taken advantage of and manipulated. Just so
during the whole of the Medieval period did the Holy Office in Rome choose the popes and
use their power to excommunicate and anathematize in the name of the Christian religion, to
keep the whole of the Christian world in thrall. And the same pattern obtained in the Moslem
world, and still does. The only difference was that the religious dictatorships seem to have
been simple coalitions of merely with and . Since Marxs time, with Minos in the picture as
well, we have experienced the updated economic materialist version. But the economic lever
is not solely applied in its Communist form. Cryptocracy is consolidating itself as a worldwide
phenomenon. Neither America nor any European country really rules itself today. A debt
structure has been erected which ensures that financial control is stronger than individual

practice. Humanity in general likes to recognize and follow a leader, because deep down
most people instinctively want to be Jed. This is why so many revolutions eventually lead to
dictatorship, as the French revolutionaries found with Napoleon and as very nearly happened
in Russia with Stalin. But it is very instructive to examine and understand why Stalin never
was quite able to become the new Russian emperor. He was able to indulge his passion for
killing off all those who opposed him, as well as millions more who merely looked as though
they might oppose him. It was a new and different strength that was built into the new
Russian system which was the ultimate restraint upon Stalin. In order to become a purely
personal ruler he would have had to modify the economic basis of the system, the principle
that everyone, including those in the limelight running the show, are all ultimately responsible
economically in the same way. He would have had to root out those running the show behind
the scenes, but to do that he risked undoing the control the system gave him over the person
and livelihood of everyone in Russia, thus cutting the ground from under his own feet. The
real rulers today, the ones who operate control systems with tentacles allover the globe,
operate out of board rooms. It doesnt matter whether they are in Russia or in the West, their
intention is to exercise economic control over nations ultimately over the whole world. The
Russian supreme council, the Politburo, was very like the board room of a big American
corporation, and the jockeying for power known as fractiouspolitik that went on within it was
identical with that which goes on in any such corporation. It is essential to be identified with
the winning clique. Something has happened which seems to have brought the Western
board rooms out on top over the Russian one. Well look at that in a minute. For the moment

himself or herself undisputed boss, but t ruled by Minos is wily enough to rig the whole scene
beforehand so that he ends up with just the boss he wants to run it the way he wants. This of
course is the way that both the Russian secret service and the American CIA attempt to work
when they interfere in national governments all over the world. Occasionally they shake a
real fist, but usually they like to be very sure of their ground before they do that as that is
where things can go wrong. The American disaster in Vietnam and the Russian one in
Afghanistan clearly illustrate that. The armaments industry is a classic example of Minos t
making both money and achieving control at the same time out of the dE TllL fondness for
conflict. The industry has proved to be stronger than any government which has tried to
control it, and stronger too than any individual combatant, because of its worldwide financial
and industrial basis. It is capable of supplying arms at a price to any person or nation
anywhere in the world. But it is certainly part of the world cryptocracy because it denies arms
to those it decrees shall lose, no matter what they are prepared to pay for them. To cite one
example, Chiang Kai Tsheks Republican China fell before Mao Tse Tungs Peoples China in
for pre cisely this reason. Rigged wars become comparable to rigged elections. PRIVAT The
real secret of the modem system is to rule KEEPOU in secret from behind someone else you
have placed in the external position of prominence, someone who is dependent on you for
his position and who knows this and who is sufficiently vulnerable that he cannot escape
from your control. This is the signature of Minos. No wonder you cant actually find his
signature openly displayed on an order or directive anywhere, nor even decisively confirm
Prof. Kritzingers calculations that he truly exists But his presence is evident from the
comment made by more than one political analyst that if it were desired to modify modem
Western governmental systems into complete dictatorships rapidly, the quickest way to do it,
and the way that would involve least change from present practice would be to extend
existing fiscal regulations to every other department of government. The tax office today is
already entitled to inquire more closely into the private lives of individual citizens than any
other office can do. In the US tax offenses have been used to nail notorious criminals, like AI
Capone, who could not be indicted in any other way. alleged tax default was also employed
to drive the final nail into the coffin of discredited President Richard Nixon.

surveillance and control ever more omnipresent. American newspapers have stated that the
FBI has recording machines that automatically begin to monitor telephone conversations
whenever certain trigger words are spoken. Since voice patterns are as distinct as
fingerprints the speaker is automatically identified within a minute of being recorded. If a
person being investigated does not use his telephone, then even so the telephone wire or the
home electrical wiring system can act as a broadcasting antenna to transmit his voice. Even
passengers carrying on a conversation in a moving car can be monitored since the cars
wiring system acts as an antenna. Any type of electrical device in operation is vulnerable to
being located by scanners within minutes pocket radios, batterypowered wrist watches,
hearing aids or heart pacers. If the FBI has unveiled its trigger words telephone recording
system to the world it stand to reason that something even more advanced must now be
operating. Without Uranian phone tapping tools and Saturnine laws and prisons and
Neptunian secret police spies and informers someone would take away Minoss money and

WO CARDINAL developments on the world stage over the past four to five years this is
being written in January have been
. The apparent collapse of Communism in Russia and Eastern Europe with a proportional
penetration of these areas by the Western capitalist economic and financial system. In deed
it appears to have been Russian financial instability and indebtedness to the West which
brought the collapse about. . The extraordinary resurgence of nationalism throughout the
whole former Soviet sphere of influence, with resultant civil war in Yugoslavia and
breakaways and declarations of independence by numbers of states formerly combined in
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Many of these

breakaways are now being contested militarily, particularly in the Moslem south, so that in
effect there is eivil war in Russia too. I think it is generally conceded that not even the most
experienced Western political analysts and Russiawatchers expected and foresaw these
developments. Probably they would not have considered them possible on the scale on
which they have occurred. All wed had till the late s was President Gorbachevs Glasnost and
Perestroika, a new friendliness and openness in the Russian attitude towards the West, and
not everyone even believed in that. After all, detente had been tried before as a political ploy.
But then first of all there was the abortive RightWing coup, attempting to reverse the whole
process and return to oldstyle, hardline Communism. Gorbachev was arrested for three
days. After that he reappeared, smiling. Had he engineered the whole thing to boost his own
popularity, everyone asked. But no unheard of free elections were suddenly permitted and
next thing Gorbaehev himself was dumped and Yeltsin was top dog and all the Soviet fringe
republics were clamoring for independence. And they were prepared to fight for it. They didnt
just want MacDonalds hamburgers, tasty though they might be. They were savoring the taste
of nationalism. MacDonalds hamburgers, or the money behind them, may well have started
the whole thing and been trying to rig it, but something unexpected and unplanned had got
away in the process. It was now doing its own thing. Most significantly, an almost exactly
paraliel pattern had been developing elsewhere over exactly the same time period. Seven
thousand miles away at the southern tip of the African continent a Right Wing government
which had flouted the world to enforce white minority rule for half a century, destablizing and
dominating all its neighboring countries much as the USSR had dominated all the countries
of Eastern Europe since World War II, now suddenly reversed itself, freed its political
prisoners, and began a rapid transition to majority rule. A majority African government was
elected to power on April th, . Attempts by oldguard right wingers to halt or reverse the
process had failed, as they had in Russia. But here too nationalist fragmentation posed a
threat. The Zulus, largest single African ethnic group in the Republic, wished to withdraw and
declare their independence before the election. At the very last minute they were persuaded
to participate. But secession may still occur. At the moment South Africa is still more or less
held together by economic constraints centered upon the five major cities in which the white
population is concentrated, as well as upon the gold mining areas of the Transvaal and the
Orange Free State. But eleven different African

languages are spoken in the country and centrifugal forces could yet tear it apart.

ow WHY should all this be happening What is the connection between South Africa and the
USSR On the surface there is none unless you happen to believe in some extreme form of
conspiratorial explanation of political developments, but from an astrological point of view the
obvious patterning in what has happened suggests a Cosmic Regrouping. Let us analyze the
pattern to clarify exactly what has been happening. I begin with the nationalist resurgence,
because although this may appear to many to be a late and unexpected development,
coming after all the other negotiations and what have you, it has actually been brewing for a
long time. In my article on e in TTL, I forecast that a resurgence of nationalism was likely. I
pointed to signs of it that were evident even then such as the accession to power of the
Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran and ultra conservative Fundamentalist religious support for
President Ronald Reagan. And now in former Yugoslavia nationalism has erupted in its most
extreme form, naked and blatant. I expect the process to develop and accelerate as
advances into l. After the nationalist debacle and bloodbath in World War II seems to have
agreed to knuckle under and take a back seat for a while, allowing the planetary coalition
responsible for the formation of the United Nations . gtilt. and Minos to run the show and
edge its way slowly to some form of world control, or even world government. But bosses like
to be bosses, and is not really a planet who enjoys taking a back seat and being told that he
is a bad boy for ever. Fascism and Nazism, his twin babies, have been dirty words for fifty
years, but people actually hanker after leaders, someone to idolize and follow and obey, and
a volcanic urge to find and recognize a leader has been welling up from the subconscious
depths in people and nations all over the world once again, over the past years. For E has
been passing through his own Sign. The Ayatollah Khomeini was the first worldclass figure to
appear, and the most able, but even leaders like Saddam Hussein of Iraq and Jim Jones, of
Jonesville massacre fame in Guyana, bear the unmistakable stamp. What demands and
calls forth is not only consent but an actual desire to give up all personal will entirely ill favor
of blind reverence, obedience and self sacrifice, even to the point of readiness to commit
suicide should this be demanded, as it was in Guyana. While was in TTL he was recovering

quadruple planetary alliance miscalculate then, when they brought financial pressure to bear
on the USSR and South Africa to end their monolithic stances and initiate all the
unbelievable constitutional changes we have witnessed over the past five years Or is that
alliance itself not as stable as it once was Once again I would like to refer back to earlier
articles of mine which supply clues. In , in an article on lt traversing // I pointed to a
forthcoming major concentration of planets in / which would be effective in , and . lt and
would form a nucleus which would be joined by and and periodically by , , and d as well. I
said that should a sense that world authoritarian control was necessary arise and be widely
and generally felt at that time, then this could be a configuration under which an attempt to
institute it might well be made. I think this is what was actually attempted. The European
Economic Union set as the year in which political union and a European parliament were to
be finally established, and Russia and South Africa, the two prime obstacles to world
unification on the financial model, were subjected to economic pressure to submit and
conform. And they did. UT ONE PLANET in the alliance may not have been completely
happy with its commitment to it. In an, as yet unpublished, article on in / I have suggested
that this planet has collaborated loyally for over a hundred years but has sometimes felt
unappreciated. One extraordinary evidence of that effect was manifested in , the year in
which the Bolshevik party finally came to power in Russia in October, and Turkish rule in
Palestine ended in November and a Jewish homeland was instituted there by the Balfour

miracle that was about to occur and imparting a prophecy of future events for the rest of the

It had been raining heavily all day, but as it swept down over the multitude the sphere dried
all their clothes in seconds. Photographs are still extant showing the multitudes awe and fear
as they watched it. was demonstrating that in mysticism he possessed an even greater

could compel peoples belief. And today it is precisely a crisis of belief which threatens to
disrupt the scientific/financial world hegemony which those other three are busily trying to

yet, since the nationalist movements are not yet employing all his subtle methods of

pealing to idealistic belief, both in the Islamic world and in the Fundamentalist movements in
the Christian West. At the very least, has a foot in both camps. To validate all of this fully
would require a detailed analysis of hundreds of mundane charts for the world events of the
past years. I am not about to embark on that task in the remainder of this article. All I intend
to do is to conclude by presenting four mundane charts in which the hand of the coalition at
present dominated by Minos is patently evident. At the very least they should serve to
demonstrate that esoteric influences do operate in the affairs we read about in the
newspapers and watch on our TV screens. HE FIRST TWO of these mundane charts,
Figures and , concern the US punitive war with Iraq occasioned by Iraqs invasion and
annexation of Kuwait. Iraqs army swept into Kuwait at a.m. on August nd, after protracted
negotiations with the Emirate concerning Kuwaiti depletion of Iraqs own oil resources had
proved fruitless. Iraq and Kuwait both extract oil from one subterranean basin which is
continuous and underlies both their territories. Kuwait had flaunted and exceeded treaty
agreements concerning how much oil each country was to extract. However, there were
considerably more ramifications to tile situation than just this. Rockefeller oil interests were
involved in Kuwait. In fact they had been implicated in the recognition of Kuwait as a tiny,
totally separate state, independent of both Iraq and Saudi Arabia, in the first place. But in
addition Saddam Hussain had been consulting US representatives in the months preceding
the invasion, asking what the American reaction would be if Iraq made such a move. He had
been told that tile US would not disapprove if Iraq annexed Kuwait. One cannot help
suspecting that he was deliberately encouraged to make the move, although this
arrangement would later be disavowed. He could then be internationally condenmed, which
would justify a punitive action against him. Iraqs military capability could thus be destroyed.
Notice that in the invasion chart at Figure , Minos is exactly cf the Midheaven, ltfgt the chart
ruler. Moreover , and , three of the heavy planets involved in the / concentration I referred to
earlier in connection with world authoritarian control, form a satellium in the VITth House, the
House of partners and also open enemies. Clearly Saddams move would be opposed by
those he had taken to be his partners. And so of course it was. At midnight GMT on January
th, the US and her allies began overt hostilities by bombing Baghdad and military

humbled. Figure is an amazing illustration of precisely what was going forward. Minos is less

in the XIIth, in the IIIrd, the House of contracts and agreements. Clearly some agreement
was being dishonored. But finally, look at that concentration of no fewer than six planets in its

possible to suspect that financial interests somewhere had something to do with its
motivation Remember too that Saddam, as Iraqs leader, must be identified with e, which

HE SECOND PAIR of charts are concerned with a rather similar war that occurred nine years
earlier. At a.m. on April nd, an Argentine invasion flotilla entered Stanley Harbor in the
Falkland Islands. Later that morning Argentina announced that she had annexed the islands
from Britain. Just as in the IraqiKuwait buildup Iraq had been for a long time negotiating with
both the US and Kuwait over the situation, so here to Argentina had for a long time been
negotiating with Britain concerning cession of the islands. Britain had urged a referral of the
issue to the U.N. But once again there was more to the situation than just this. Argentina had
been claiming the islands for years, ever since Britain asserted sovereignty over them in .
What was the extra incentive just now The Argus newspaper in Cape Town spilled the beans
in a major article on the Falklands on April rd, . The islands are surrounded by a huge oilfield
estimated to comprise ten times the reserves of oil in the total North Sea oil fields presently
being exploited by Britain and Norway. In

Figure , the chart for the entry into Stanley Harbor, Minos is not on the MCIC axis, though it
might well have been there by the time Stanley itself was actually occupied. But even the
Port entry chart itself is significant as it stands. Minos is close to the Xllth cusp exactly D on
the IXth cusp. if is exactly on the VIlth cusp of open enemies, c the rising and i, and and are
also in the Vllth. Clearly once again there was going to be opposition. In actual fact the result
was a twoandahalf months war which ended in Argentinean surrender when the British
retook Stanley. The Argentinean commander signed the surrender at p.m. all June th, after a
ceasefire several hours earlier. Notice in Figure that Minos is very close to the IC again, as in
the chart for the US bombing of Baghdad on January th, . He is in a TSquare with near the
XIIth cusp and i on cusp VI, and he rules the Vth House where , the other ruler of , is

also to be found. Moreover disposes everything in this chart except the group consisting of in
IT disposing of the and Midheaven. Essentially this is a chart depicting a successful end to a
struggle over a speculative investment note that the three planets which were in the VIIth in
the invasion chart are now elevated in the Xth and Xlth. But there is also a worldrulership
twist to it, as there was in the Iraqi war. / rises, ruled by , and is in the Xlth exactly cf . In other
words the purpose of the struggle was really connected with the objective of social controL
As would happen with Saddam Hussein in , the Argentineans had been encouraged to go
ahead with the invasion believing that Britain was not really interested in the islands and
might well be grateful to be relieved of responsibility for them, as with her other former
dependencies around the world. But immediately the invasion took place all that changed,
just as happened once Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Argentina had to be humbled. She
was ruled by a military junta which appealed to Argentinean nationalist feelings, and nothing
as Fascist as that could be tolerated, nor be allowed to come into possession of Falkland
Islands oil and threaten Rockefeller world oil interests. So, by a brilliant twist, nationalist
fervor was whipped up in Britain. Note again howe, one of the three planets ill the VIIth
House in the invasion chart, has become elevated in the chart of the surrender. For the time
being the Falklands could remain in British hands, since Britain was a reliable member of the
world community e now in the XIth House. In her hands the oil would remain unexploited or
even unmentioned there were no further references to it after that one article in the Cape
Town Argus. Thereafter the war was said to be solely for the benefit of the , British settlers
on the islands. It would be there when required by greater world interests. Minos will remain
in for the next years. We should be prepared to expect a good deal more financial
manipulation of governments and the military over oil interests during that period.

The New York Stock Exchange Chart

HEN FORECASTING the markets, very few financial astrologers use the New York Stock
Exchange chart. Instead, they rely on such things as transits to transits, cycles, Gann
techniques, Bayer methods, Elliot Wave, and Fibonacci retracement. All of these innovations
have come into use because the New York Stock Exchange chart that is in general usage
does not work well. When you ask a financial astrologer why he or she is not using the New
York Stock Exchange chart, he or she will offer some excuse, such as quotA
twohundredyearold chart does not progress wellquot or quotThese other methods are easier
and give good results.quot Ridiculous Many twohundred and even fivehundredyearold charts
work. The simple truth is that they are not using the correct chart. The chart that is commonly
accepted and used for the New York Stock Exchange is for May , , at either a.m. EST rising
or a.rn. EST Q rising. These times came from both log books and rectification work. I have
also seen a rectified chart for a.m. LMT. Astrologers have worked long and

hard trying to rectify the New York Stock Exchange chart, but they have not produced a
product even they will use for their market forecasts. All historians agree on the beginning of
the New York Stock Exchange. Before , members of the wealthy financial community were
buying and selling on Wall Street. They would gather in small groups, within a twoblock area
on Wall Street, to conduct their exchange and barter transactions. A crisis came when, early
in , a speculator named William Duer accelerated the quotpaper speculationquot and
produced a financial panic. So, on May , , a group of merchants and auctioneers gathered to
remedy the situation. They decided to meet daily at regular hours to buy and sell securities
under an old buttonwood tree that faced Wall Street and was only a few blocks from the site
of the present Stock Exchange. These twentyfour men signed an agreement in which they
agreed quotto trade securities only among themselves, to maintain fixed commission rates,
and to avoid other auctions.quot These men are considered to be the original members of
the New York Stock Exchange.

streets. In they were able to move into larger quarters at Wall Street. On March , , the

Board. Each day the board members assembled for the reading of a list of all the stocks that

OBTAIN more precision in the delineation of a birth chart and the respective power of the
planets relative to each other, the Church of Light in California developed a system which
they call Stellar Dynamics. It is a most valuable addition to the theory of astrology and has
proven to be very useful in practice. Stellar Dynamics are very easy to calculate. They are
based on statistics gathered over a very long period and are wellknown to most practicing
astrologers. There is really nothing new in the system, but its merit is that it provides a clear
insight into the relative power of the planets, Signs and Houses in proportion to each other.
The system is of particular value when calculating the value of an aspect. When first coming
to a new chart, the student astrologer tends to look first at the planets in the Signs to get an
initial idea of the strength of each planet. The located in Q, for example, is obviously strong
but what is the relative difference for, lets say, IInd House matters when that Q rules the Ilnd
from the Vth House against it being in the XIlth and ruling the IInd How strong is this in
connection with a string of aspects of different types and exactitude The Stellar Dynamics
system was created to answer these types of questions. The system come in very handy
when one is studying progressed aspects. By evaluating the three types of Stellar Dynamics
involved, one can decide whether an event will occur or not, and if it will manifest as strong,
mild or weak. There are three types of Stellar Dynamics . The Power of a planet the number
of its socalled Astrodynes . The Harmony of a planet the number of its socalled Harmodynes
. The Disharmony of a planet the number of its socalled Discordynes. The same factors may
be calculated for the Signs and Houses.

Thus an astrodyne is a number of units of astrological power, a harmodyne is a number of
units of astrological harmony, and a discordyne a number of units of astrological disharmony.

Well start by calculating the Power of the planets and do this using Noel Tyls suggested birth
chart for the new President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, I see Figure l. For this we will
use the information from two tables we will require in order to calculate the Power Grill. The
calculation of Astrodynes or Power is based on three factors A. The unmodified power of the
planet. Research indicates that the , and have more power than any of the other planets.

B. The House occupied by the planet. A planet in an angular House has more power than
when the same planet is in a succedent or cadent House. The distance a planet is from the
nearest House cusp is also important.
C. Aspects made by the planets. Each aspect increases the power of a planet. The amount
of a planets power varies according to the kind and orb of the its aspects.

Table has two purposes First, to see if a particular difference between two bodies is within
orb of being an aspect. Second, to define the Power of the aspect. . Find the distance
between two planets. Check this against the closest aspect, House position and orb to

All of the calculations now complete, what do we have The idea of Stellar Dynamics is to
arrive at a figure of relative strength or power of the planets one against the other. For the
Houses, it is not so much a question of power, but more one of importance, whether there is
a harmonious, beneficial or positive influence, or the opposite. The editor asked me to
explain the value of Table , the summary table. To my mind, there is really not much value in
it. It provides just a general view of the total power of the planets and how this power
expresses itself, favorably or unfavorably. For Nelson Mandela, the overall power of the
planets is not strong good and bad indications are more or less in balance. One can
therefore say that not many aspects will materialize in his life, and those that do are neither
extremely fortunate nor very unfortunate. The power of the Signs is however very strong and
favorable. The planets and their aspects explain much about the influences on an individuals
character, whereas the Signs tell us more about the time in which the individual is living,
whether he fits in with it or not. The high ratio of Harmodynes to Discordynes, .tol, in
Mandelas birth chart suggests that this may very well be the horoscope of someone who
could become a true man of his times. This indication of a strong horoscope is confirmed by
the Houses, and these indicate how the planets and Signs relate to the moment of birth as
depicted by their relationship to the rising degree, which refer to the unique circumstances of
Mandelas life, to the events that occur in it. Both the Signs and the Houses are strong and
very favorable, they indicate the strength of this particular horoscope. Had we seen this
horoscope when Nelson Mandela was still a child, we could have said that this may well be
the horoscope of someone who will lead an eventful life and who will in some way represent
the times in which he lives. Now lets try to make some sense of the various values we have
calculated. First, consider the Power Grill of the planets. heads the list, with the most
Astrodynes. It is followed by its conjunctionpartner, . There are other important aspect
pictures in Mandelas chart, the Tcross involving the gtilt, and , for example, but it is cf that
predominates according to this method of Stellar Dynamics. The T cross in the cadent
houses is obviously an appropriate indicator of the difficulties Mandela must have
experienced during his lengthy period of restraint. But, sadly, many others have also
experienced long periods of imprisonment. cf suggests there is something more, it indicates
that Mandela was born with the potential ability to transform himself into the leader of his
people and, eventually, to become the legallyelected President of a new nation. Mandela has
achieved something quite remarkable and this can only be indicated in the horoscope by the
emphasis of a unique astrological aspect.

Considerations X By itself, the Power Grill does not show us whether any power is beneficial
or not. This we find in the HarmonyDiscord Grill for the planets. Now it is that has the larger
value, though t still has a large positive value. The conjunction of these two bodies is
harmonious, positive and beneficial. So, in delineating the birth chart of Nelson Mandela, we
can say that any aspect involving t or with any other planet, both in the natal chart and by
transit or progression, will in time tum out to be beneficial in his life. Note, too, the high
positive values for the Me and for gtilt, these suggest that matters the law, etc. may rise
Mandela to prominence and that Uranian influences, which may include rebelling against the
status quo, will be certain to affect how this comes about. The circumstances and situations
in which this works can be found by the position of the planets by Sign and House. The
conjunction is in the VIIth house, and in hindsight we now understand that it is related to the
legal transformation of enemies into partners by the joining of different races on an equal
footing. In the Sign , we see that this transformation was how Mandela was able to provide
the protection necessary for his family, for his people. With the Sign ruler, the in the XIIth, in
mutual reception with t, and both cf and gtilt, Mandelas years imprisonment also becomes
clearly evident in this chart. The astrologer now has a strong weapon at his or her disposal
for interpreting the different aspects in the birth chart. Usually, a beginning astrologer has
only a vague idea whats going on. The temptation could be to virtually ignore the cf t aspect
as this aspect does not involve any quickermoving planets though is the Ascendant ruler and
instead to emphasize the r j J Tcross. In doing so, while the reactionary and longterm
prisoner may be seen, the main thrust and the glorious success of this mans life will tend to
be lost.
