Escape from Earth?
The Kepler Space Telescope found 7 earth sized planets in the same solar system called the
Trappist-1 system. These new discovered world are perhaps warm enough and might have
water on them. This means that they might be habitable if they have the right temperature
and have water on them. The only problem is that these new worlds are 36 light years away.
The sun in the Trappist-1 system is the
around the same size of jupiter meaning it’s
smaller and colder then our sun, but luckily
though the furthest plant in the Trappist-1
system is even closer then mercury is from
the sun. The planets range from sizes of
25% smaller to 10% larger. What is the most
stunning is how close the planets orbits are.
The planets have so small orbits that it
takes 1.5 to 20 days for the planets to orbit
around the Sun. Most or maybe all will be “tidally locked”, meaning they only one side of
that planet will be facing the Trappist-1 sun. This could mean a dark side and a light side on
the plants, and no I wont join the dark side, I’d rather enjoy the view on the light side. But
this could cause problems with the hospitality of the planet and life on the planet. But on the
positive side if you would want to enjoy a sunset from where you live all day, then you could
live in between the dark side and light side.
With thie planets being so close together
including the sun, you could see them from
the surface of any planet. Anyone to look
up would have an amazing view from a
world in the Trappist-1 system. Planet 1f is
considered the most habitable, the pink
star would look 10 times larger than the sun
in our sky. The other planets would be
visable from the surafce of the planet and
would appearing up to twice the size of the
moon, and you wouldn’t only see one of the
neighboring plants but a few of them. “It would be a beautiful show,” said Amaury Triaud.
But with this new discovery astromeners, scientists, students, teachers, people, see this as
hope of new life, maybe we arent alone in space by ourselves but there might be otheres
out there 36 light years away. That’s what we hope for, for life someone out there to show
we aren’t alone.
