Introduction
Good education not only teaches one how to live but also builds one's strength of
character. “John F. Kennedy once said, “A child mis-educated is a child lost.”
When you begin to evaluate the academic ranking of the most powerful and
progressive nation in the world, it seems as though we’re losing children left and
right.” (Craig Ruvere, 2007)
It is after a good deal of self-evaluation that I have decided to pursue graduate
studies to prepare myself for my long-term goal of a career in Information
Technology and Communication Design. I have found that a career in leadership
role in school is both intellectually stimulating and satisfying and I am looking at
your university to provide me with the required expertise to embark upon this.
Even since I was a child, I have been interested in teaching and leadership, and I
always stood first in my class when there was an occupation for leadership,
because I like to communicate. Communication is a good way to close to each
other and solves problems. Therefore, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career
in the field of communication. This ensured that I set out on my dreams by taking
up Advertising for my undergraduate studies in San Jose State University.
Background
It was not smooth sailing all through with respect to my academics because of the
language-English. English is the first language in the world; therefore, I believe it
could help me get closer with different people and races. When I was 19 years old,
I decided to go abroad to explore the knowledge of communication, and I choose
San Jose because here is the place with multicultural and different races. In four
years of studying in San Jose State University, my undergraduate coursework has
given me a comprehensive exposure to all the core fields in advertising, publish
relationship and communication, even though my GPA is not excellent because of
the difficulty in language.
After graduating in August 2007, I was hired as marketing/advertising coordinator
in World Journal- one of the largest Chinese newspapers in Bay Area. Media is a
perfect way to communicate with public, and I have learned the skills of
communication with customers as well as the managers in the company. Since the

Working Environment
Silicon Valley University is a small society;
there are almost 600 students in the small
campus. Therefore, good communication and
leadership are the most important skills to get
on well with students and co-workers. I am a
student administrator as well as advertising
coordinator, and it is a challenge task for me. I
need to communicate with different students
everyday, deal with different kind of situations
and find the best solution for those students.
Moreover, when the manager and boss are out
of country, I need to communicate with co-workers and lead them to solve each
problem. My undergraduate theoretically taught me with all the fundamentals of
communication, but the thirst for more knowledge and practical approachability
has driven me to pursue Master in this area.
Having acquired the strong foundation I would like to pursue my graduate study
to acquire the knowledge and intellectual discipline, which are needed to become
an innovator and leader in my professional community. I strongly believe that
Master program will provide an effective and straight forward method for
broadening my professional horizons. Academic excellence, diverse and
progressive program development and proper infrastructure make your University,
California State University Monterey Bay, an ideal place to pursue my graduate
education in Information Technology and Communication Design program.
Accomplishing many different kinds of tasks over the past 2 years has led me to
believe that I can do much more, achieve whatever goals I set, if only persevere
and continue constantly to learn and to grow.
conclusion
Nelson Mandela has said, “Education is the most powerful weapon, which you
can use to change the world.” I would like to add that the essence of University
education lies in the synergetic relationship between the student and his/her
department. I would be grateful to you if I am accorded the opportunity to pursue
my graduate studies at CSU, Monterey Bay.
