Woodlawn, Columbia and Glen Burnie.

What do they do?
 The
Baltimore Hawks is
Baltimore’s only
professional basketball
team.
 Hawks will play a 22
game season (not
including Play-Offs)
Where will they play?
 11
games will be
played at home at St
Frances Academy in
Baltimore City
 11 road games
(traveling mainly the
eastern-seaboard from
Boston, MA. to Florida)
When will they play?

The ABA 2015-16 Season begins
in November and ends in April
2016



ESPN 3 to televise 40 games of
the season and the Championship
Finals (Hawks have 3 televised
games this season)
HAWKS games will be played on
Fridays, Saturdays and/or
Sundays beginning from 5pm to
8pm.
The top 8 teams go to the ABA
Championship Finals in April
Why do it?




First and foremost, we do this because we love
Basketball!
Baltimore has great sports fans and a storied
basketball tradition yet has no professional
basketball team.
Provide young men the chance to develop,
enhance and showcase their talent in
basketball in the ABA organization in order to
create and foster potential opportunities in the
NBA, D-League, and other positions overseas.
Established a strong base for ABA in the
Baltimore/Washington Corridor as a wellstructured professional basketball team
offering career advancement, job
opportunities, and community service to the
Mid-Atlantic region and worldwide.
How will it happen?

The ABA and Hawks Organization
Original ABA

The original ABA was founded in 1967,
competing with the wellestablished National Basketball
Association, until the ABA–NBA merger in
1976. In the merger, the NBA acquired
teams, players, and new rules from the
ABA such as:



Teams: New York Nets, Denver Nuggets, Indiana
Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs.
Players: Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Billy Cunningham,
Moses Malone, and lots more.
New game rules and element such as the 3
point shot, dunk contest and All-Star game.
ABA 2000


The current ABA “ABA 2000” was
started
by
Joe
Newman and Richard Tinkham.
The ABA is the largest, and most
diverse,
professional
sports
league in the U.S., with over 75%
of its 100 teams minority owned.

CEO and Owner, Gregory L. Brown,
Jr., is a native of Baltimore and began
playing basketball in the 2nd grade at
Brehms Lane Elementary School, going
on to attend Lake Clifton/Eastern High
School . Professionally Greg in both the
European Basketball League and the
American Basketball Association.

Sports marketing is building a highly identified,
passionate fan base such that fans, sponsors,
media and government pay to promote and
support the organization.
Effective sports marketing is primarily premised
upon building fan identification.
The corporate community looks to sports
marketing to create a lasting image in the
hearts and minds of their target audience and
also to build expanded awareness.
This is done by leveraging the emotions created
in the personality, sport or event, that you as a
sponsor can build a strong bridge between
your brand and their fans.
Marketing Strategy

Attention
The team cannot sell tickets or products if the members of the
target market do not know we exist. The first major goal of any
Hawks promotional campaign will be to attract the attention of
potential customers.

Interest
Attracting attention seldom sells tickets or products. Therefore, the
team will spark interest by showing why we are a good, cost
effective entertainment option.


Exciting games, winning ball team, fun & entertaining, affordable, family
fun
Desire
To be successful, the team must move potential customers beyond
mere interest in the team. Good promotion will stimulate desire
by convincing potential customers of the team's offerings and its
ability to satisfy their desire for high quality local sports.

Action
After convincing potential customers to buy the ticket or product,
promotion must then push them toward the actual purchase.

