High g Speed p Negative g Voltage g Regulators g New Product Release XC6901/XC6902 Series Digital Camera Mobile Phone LCD TV Notebook GPS PC Navigation The XC6901/XC6902 series of high speed negative voltage regulators have an output current of 200mA, are compatible with low ESR capacitors, and have an output accuracy of ±1.5%. The XC6901 series has a CE pin that enables direct positive voltage control from a microcomputer. Soft-start and CL discharge functions are included. The XC6902 series are 3-pin regulators th at enable the output voltage to be set in steps of 0.1V within the range -0.9V to -12V. These regulators can be used as a power supply for CCD systems and as a negative-voltage bias power supply for LCD modules and other devices. 1 The XC6901 enables direct ON/OFF control from a microcomputer USP-6C䇭䇭 SOT-25䇭 SOT-89-5䇭 USP-6C䇭䇭䇭䇭SOT-23䇭䇭䇭䇭䇭 SOT-89 Negative voltage with same high-speed response as positive voltage 2 䇼Load Transient Response䇽 GND 1㱘F 1 㱘F -VOUT Negative Voltage Power Supply -5V XC6901 -12V -VIN Output Voltage -VOUT(V) Microcomputer CIN=CL=1㱘F(ceramic),VIN=-7V,VCE=1.5V,tr=tf=5㱘s 㪄㪌㪅㪏 㪄㪌㪅㪐 㪊㪇㪇 㪉㪌㪇 120mV 㪄㪍 㪉㪇㪇 120mV 㪄㪍㪅㪈 㪈㪌㪇 CE 㪈㪇㪇㫄㪘 + The CE pin enables direct ON/OFF control from the positive voltage of a microcomputer. This problem is due to the startup sequence (timing) of the positive/negative power supplies and the current limitation characteristics incorporated in the regulators. The problem occurs in regulators that have the current limitation characteristics indicated in 㽳 of the above graph, and the cause of the problem is the fact that the positive power supply side starts first, and current continues to be drawn into the positive voltage side after the negative voltage side starts. As shown in 㽲 of the above graph, the XC6901/XC6902 series solves this problem by means of a circuit configuration where the current limitation characteristic does not have a stable point at 0mA. This circuit innovation solves power startup problems and enables the supply of good positive/negative power without affecting the positive/negative power startup sequence. 4 Comparison with the previous XC62KN product XC6901/XC6902 6902 Series Advantage XC62KN Series −VIN High Voltage High Speed Load Transient Response 䃂Good transient response characteristics 䃂Wide usable range (see graph at right) 䃂Good temperature characteristics 䃂Compatible with low ESR capacitors 䃂Full set of protective functions䋨Foldback, TSD䋩 䃂Soft-start 䇭 CL Discharge (XC6901) 䇼Comparison of operable ranges of negative voltage regulators䇽 Low Power Consumption −16V Advantage 䃂Low Power Consumption 3μA XC6902 Series −16V+VCE XC6901 Series −10V VS XC62KN Series Disadvantage Disadvantage 䃂Higher supply current than XC62KN 䃂Inferior transient response characteristics 䃂Not compatible with low ESR capacitors −2.4V −2.1V 100mA 200mA IOUT The operating range of the XC6901 is -2.4V to -12.4V (VCE=3.6V) www.torex.co.jp/english/ August 2011 䃂 Values shown in this sheet can be changed without any prior notice.
