A newly discovered cancer
treatment has left 94% of
patients disease-free, after
they were told they had as
long as one month before
death.
Scientists have raised the possibility
of a new drug that could cure certain
cancers, such as leukaemia for good.
Experts say that doctors are one step
closer to defeating those cancers once
and for all. The process involved
white blood cells being removed and
being modified especially to kill
cancer cells in the body and then
being transferred back into the body.
Rebecca, a Clydeview Academy pupil
had this to say; “I think it is great
news that there is a possibility of a
new cancer cure that could change
people’s lives and benefit the planet”
Katy, another pupil said “I think its
phenomenal news that cancer could
finally be destroyed for good”
Doctors have told the incredible
story of how baby Layla Richards
from North London was given the
cell treatment and now her leukaemia
has been wiped out. They say that
“this has proven to us how much this
new cure will benefit thousands of
people”
After Layla Richards, scientists now
say that cancer could actually be cured
years earlier than the expected date.
This image shows what normal
healthy cells look like and what
someone with leukaemia’s cells will
look like.
And doctors say that if more and
more leukaemia sufferers volunteer
for the drug, more lives will be saved
and the amount of cancer survivors
will eventually increase.
