MEDICAL PHYSICS RESIDENCY Available
British Columbia Cancer Agency – Vancouver Centre
The BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) is currently inviting applications for one Medical Physics
Residency position in the CAMPEP accredited BCCA Medical Physics Residency Program. The
program is a comprehensive two year clinical training program covering all aspects of Radiation
Oncology Physics including dosimetry, quality assurance, external beam treatment planning,
brachytherapy and radiation safety.
The BCCA is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer,
and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. It provides a comprehensive cancer
control program for the people of British Columbia by working with community partners to
deliver a range of cancer services, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and
treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates
six regional cancer centres in the Fraser Valley, Kelowna, Vancouver, Vancouver Island,
Abbotsford and Prince George. The BC Cancer Research Centre conducts research into the
causes and cures for cancer.
The Medical Physics Residency position is available at the Vancouver Centre and commences
September 6, 2016. An MSc or a PhD (preferred) in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited
graduate program (or PhD in a related subject and completion of a CAMPEP certificate program)
is required. There is an expectation to adhere to the professional code of ethics developed by
the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM). In accordance with Canadian
Employment and Immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and
permanent residents of Canada.
The application deadline is June 30, 2016. Qualified applicants should submit a
statement of interest, a CV, two letters of reference and a copy of official university
graduate transcripts. Clear indication of status in Canada (Canadian citizen or landed
immigrant) must be provided in the cover letter for the application to be considered.
