Kelly Lane Middle School 2014-2015 7th Grade Pre-Ap Math Weekly Lesson Plan Teacher: Brown, Tenney, Kuhlmann Week of: January 26-30 Subject/Period(s): 7th grade Pre-Ap Math Curriculum Bundle 7 (1/9 – 1/29) Circumference, Area, and Volume Online Textbook Access: (1) Go to my.hrw.com (2) Login: s[STUDENT ID].stu.pfisd.net (For example:s123456.stu.pfisd.net) (3) Password: xMMDDPF! (For example: x0416PF! If the birthday is April 16) Needs List – Disinfect wipes to clean desks, Tissues, Triple A batteries Thank you 7th GRADE Pre-Ap BUNDLE 7 (Jan 9– Jan 29) INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES (TEKS): 8.6.A - describe the volume formula V = Bh of a cylinder in terms of its base area and its height; 8.6.B - model the relationship between the volume of a cylinder and a cone having both congruent bases and heights and connect that relationship to the formulas; and 8.7.A - solve problems involving the volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres 7.5.B - describe ? As the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter; and 7.8.C - use models to determine the approximate formulas for the circumference and area of a circle and connect the models to the actual formulas. 7.9.B - determine the circumference and area of circles; 7.8.A - model the relationship between the volume of a rectangular prism and a rectangular pyramid having both congruent bases and heights and connect that relationship to the formulas; 7.8.B - explain verbally and symbolically the relationship between the volume of a triangular prism and a triangular pyramid having both congruent bases and heights and connect that relationship to the formulas; and 7.9.A - solve problems involving the volume of rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, rectangular pyramids, and triangular pyramids; 7.9.C - determine the area of composite figures containing combinations of rectangles, squares, parallelograms, trapezoids, triangles, semicircles, and quarter circles; and 8.8.D - use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles. 7.11.C - write and solve equations using geometry concepts, including the sum of the angles in a triangle, and angle relationships. ACTIVITIES: 1/26 – 1/27 Learning Target Students will make conclusions about angles formed by parallel lines that are cut by a transversal Continue Triangle Sum/Exterior Angle Theorem Angles Graphic Organizer HW-Complete Bundle 7 Review, due 1/28. 1/28 Learning Target Students will review for the Bundle 7 test. Study for Bundle 7 Test#2 Tomorrow 1/29 Learning Target Bundle 7 Test #2 HW – N/A 1/30 Learning Target Students will find the lateral and total surface area of prisms and cylinders Lateral Surface Area of Rectangular Prisms McGraw Hill Lesson 8 ASSESSMENTS: 1/29 Bundle 7 Test
