Evolution Story Rubric:
In this class we have been talking a lot about evolution and natural selection and
how these concepts have helped to shape the world in which we live. For this
assignment you will be making your own evolution story books. You can pick your
favorite animal real or make believe and describe how they have evolved into the
animal that they are today.
You must:
 Define evolution in your story in your own words
 Define natural selection in your own words
 Illustrate the process of how natural selection occurs throughout your story
(refer to your natural selection notes sheet)
 Describe how this specific species has evolved over a long period of time
and what sort of occurrences have helped to create the species it is today
 Describe certain traits this specie has that have helped it to evolve
 Describe what it’s habitat is like and any desirable traits this animal may
have to help it’s species stay alive
 You must include pictures to illustrate your evolution story
 Your story must be neat and original
What other species of animal are present in this habitat this animal must compete
with?
Are there different environmental factors that have helped to shape this
population?
