ACADEMIC YEAR -2016-17
TERM II - Unit test II
Standard: IX
Name of the Student ______________________
Subject: Maths
Time : 30 Mins
Marks: 20
Teacher: VS
Date: 25.10.2016
SECTION – A
I) Question numbers 1 to 4 carry one mark each.
1. In -2y + 3x = 14, express y in terms of x.
2.”After five years, age of mother will be 3 times the age of her son.” Represent
the statement as a linear equation in two variables.
3. Find a, if linear equation 3x – ay = 6 has one solution as (4,3).
4. Find the value of K, if 2x + y = k passes through (1,1)
SECTION – B
II) Question numbers 5 to 7 carry two marks each.
5.Write the linear equation 5y + 6 – 2x =9 in standard form and hence write the
values of a, b and c.
6. Check by substituting that x=1 and y=-2 is a solution of equation
2(x + 6) – 5(y + 7) = -11.
7. If the point (2k-3, k+2) lies on the graph of equation 2x + 3y + 15 = 0, find the
value of k.
SECTION –C
III) Question numbers 8 to 9 carry three marks each.
8. The taxi fare in a city is as follows: For the first km, the fare is Rs. 10 and for
the subsequent distance, it is Rs. 8 per km. Taking the distance covered as y km and total
fare as Rs. x, write a linear equation for this information.
9. Check which of the following are solutions of equations x -2y =4 and which are
not:
a. (0,2)
b.(2, 0)
c.(4,0)
