The Fairtrade Foundation Job Title: Data and Application Support Analyst Reports to: Data & Information Manager Staff Reporting: None (supervision of Volunteers may be required) Based at: 3rd Floor, Ibex House, 42-47 Minories, London EC3N 1DY Salary band: Grade 6 Date updated: February 2015 The Fairtrade Foundation is a passionate and ambitious development organisation committed to tackling poverty and injustice through trade. We are best known as the independent, not-for-profit body behind the FAIRTRADE Mark, a product label assuring consumers that their purchase helps disadvantaged farmers and workers in developing countries secure a better deal. The Fairtrade mark is the best known and most trusted ethical mark amongst UK consumers. We undertake our certification and product labelling work as the UK member of Fairtrade International (FLO), a global network of organisations working to common standards and verification systems. The global Fairtrade movement also includes Producer Networks in Africa, Asia and Latin America/Caribbean, as co-owners alongside the markets (Labelling Initiatives), and the Fairtrade Foundation is playing a leading role in enabling the Producer Networks to play a larger role in the system. The Foundation is also responsible for building public support for Fairtrade and for bringing together producers and consumers in a citizens’ movement for change. The growing number of Fairtrade towns and cities, faith communities and schools and universities are a testament to the efforts of our grass-roots supporter networks. In the UK, the Foundation employs over one hundred staff in the following directorates: Executive Office, Commercial Relations, Policy & Public Affairs, Public Engagement, Product Integrity, Fundraising, Human Resources, and Finance & IT. We are currently implementing our "Unlocking the Power of the Many" strategy (2013-15) to grow impact & sales for producers, galvanise public support & action and create an effective & inspiring organisation & system. Directorate / Team Information The Finance and IT directorate provide wide-ranging support to the organisation. The Finance team is responsible for managing the Foundation’s finances including invoicing, payments, management accounting and other financial reporting. Information Technology (IT) is responsible for the technology infrastructure of the organisation, including providing technical and functional support for a number of internal database and Business Intelligence systems, as well as Facilities Management. Purpose of Job Working within the IT Team, the Data and Application Support Analyst will provide data analysis, report development solutions and application support for databases across the organisation supporting all teams. Page 1 of 4 Key Tasks The role has three main functions: Support; Development & Projects; and Administration. Support 1. Provide user support for application and database systems across the organisation. Prioritising and responding to user requests to proactively assessing support needs as required and deliver solutions to enquiries. 2. Provide user support to teams in the use of the CRM system, and provide support cover for the core business applications as and when required. 3. Work with teams to understand their reporting requirements and translate this into the production of tailored ad-hoc and automated reports through the use of SQL queries and stored procedures in SSRS & QlikView. 4. Ensuring data imports are received and uploaded as necessary. 5. Provide face to face customer service to our teams. Development & Projects 1. Investigate, develop and implement updates/ improvements for in-house application and database systems and Business Intelligence systems. 2. To work with the Data & Information Manager to deliver application and data related projects, participate in the application and data related aspects of projects as required. 3. To manage and deliver own projects finding appropriate solutions and making recommendations. 4. To ensure existing and change control documents are maintained and updated. Administration To have an in-depth understanding of data and information management systems in order to manage: i. The backup process. ii. Database integrity checks / data reconciliation. iii. Database system capacity & performance monitoring. iv. Supporting teams to ensure accurate data (e.g. data cleansing and reconciliation). v. The operation of stored procedures and automated reports. vi. The database replication processes via Log Shipping. General 1.
