Web and Database Developer
New Leaf Symbiotics (NLS) is looking for a web and database developer with
experience in implementation of web-based software and databases. NLS is a
venture-backed agricultural biotech company focused on providing
biologically-based products. NLS’ Prescriptive Biologics™ platform integrates the
company’s extensive collection of plant-associated bacteria and a deep
understanding of genomics to create effective, environmentally responsible
products. NLS products are designed to improve plant health, increase yield,
control pests, and have a positive impact on contemporary environmental
concerns.
Responsibilities and Duties:
 Implementation and ongoing refinement of web-based software and
databases targeted at scientific data entry, analysis of genomic sequences,
integrating genotype and phenotype data, data mining, and data
visualization.
 Implementation of scientific data entry forms and tools.
 Integration of new data and data types with existing databases.
 Implementation of new data analysis and visualization tools.
 Design and implementation of databases over diverse scientific data.
Qualifications:
 Experience implementing web-based software and databases.
 Must enjoy working on a team and be able to manage and prioritize a
variety of tasks.
 Must possess excellent record-keeping and written and verbal
communication skills.
 Be capable of working closely with all areas of the NLS Research and
Discovery team and motivated to help the growth and success of the
company.
Requirements:
 Demonstrated experience in modern web technologies including Ruby,
JavaScript, and SQL is required, and examples should be included in the
application package.
Preferred:
 A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
 Experience with cloud-based services such as Amazon’s EC2 platform.

Compensation:
 The incumbent will be hired at a level commensurate with their knowledge,
skills and abilities. The salary range is competitive. NewLeaf Symbiotics offers
a comprehensive benefits package, including stock options, 401K, and a
health plan including medical and dental coverage. In addition, this position
is eligible for an annual bonus plan.
