Network Engineer II
Exempt
Reports to: Infrastructure Operations Manager

Major functions:
 The Network Engineer is responsible for the overall design, implementation,
maintenance, up-time and testing of the entire network infrastructure at Members First
Credit Union.
 Process data and perform a variety of clerical duties and support function for the
Members First Credit Union Information Technology department.
Duties / Responsibilities:
 Leads the network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization,
throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation,
configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures;
establishing connections and firewalls.
 Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and
performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
 Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing
enhancements.
 Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; working with the
Infrastructure Operations Manager.
 Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional
publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
 Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
 Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different
requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Support the administration and maintenance of our workstations, phones, printers, and other
devices. These include: executing OS updates, software updates, firmware updates,
hardware, software, telephone systems and printer support.
Provide occasional hardware and software support, as part of our cross-training efforts, with
regards to: Citrix, Network, Windows Server, VMware, SonicWALL, Arista, HP Cisco and
storage products.
Provide technical expertise as a team member in the development and operational support of
the core infrastructure systems and services.
Lead the design, test, and deployment of new or enhanced network services, both physically
and virtually.
Perform server troubleshooting and triage during service failure scenarios and participate in
detailed investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
Support the current LAN/WAN network environment and implement new technologies.
Prioritize requests as well as the ability to escalate requests to other IT staff members and/or
our vendor support teams.
Work in a coordinated fashion with the Infrastructure Team and Operations Manager to
establish and maintain SLAs, reporting, operational needs, etc.
Lead staff in troubleshooting networking problems.
Cross-training of staff with regards to network design and basic troubleshooting.
Maintain security of all systems.
Other systems duties as assigned.
Other Duties:
 Attend educational functions as required.
 Must have a good working knowledge of all credit union products and services and how they
interact with the hardware used to power them.

order to meet the current needs of Members First Credit Union
 Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Experience/Education:
 Bachelor degree preferred; others considered with previous work history.
 Network+ certification, or similar experience and knowledge.
 3+ years experience building and maintaining network switching (L2 and L3).
 3+ years experience building and maintaining network routing.
 3+ years experience building and maintaining network firewall and VPN technologies.
 3+ years experience building and maintaining virtual networking within VMware.
 VMware, SonicWALL, HP and Arista experience and certifications a plus.
 Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.

Excellent understanding of security and industry-standard best practices (social engineering,
hashing/encryption, viruses, spyware, etc)
Must be able to operate a variety of computer hardware and software packages, along with
other office equipment.
Be able to lift up to 50lbs to deliver and setup new technology.
Have a working knowledge of credit union operations preferred
