Job Title: Director of Network, Infrastructure and Security Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports to: Executive Director of Technology and Information Services Pay Grade: TN08/240 days Dept./School: Technology Date Revised: 5/25/2016 _____________________________________________________________________________ Primary Purpose: The Director of Network, Infrastructure, and Security is a collaborative thought leader, an organized manager, and an effective team builder and team player that's committed to providing excellent service and support across all areas of assigned responsibility, including providing systemic support of Lewisville’s strategic design, vision, mission, and goals. Provides knowledge, expertise, and leadership in the areas of Network, Infrastructure, Data Center, Telecommunications, and Security. Visionary leadership in providing the infrastructure needed to support transformative digital learning environments. Qualifications: Minimum Education/Certification: Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field (preferred) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field (minimum) Minimum of 5 years of appropriate experience Highly proficient in VMware server infrastructure and Storage Area Networks (SANS) Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification Cisco Certifications such as a CCNA, CCNP, or CCDA CISSP required or willing to attain within 1 year of hire Familiarity of local, state and federal laws such as: a. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) b. Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) c. Health Insurance Portability and Privacy Act (HIPPA) d. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) e. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure f. Texas Senate Bill 507 Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience: ● Strong knowledge and understanding of the role and use of technology in public schools. ● Commitment to excellent customer service and experience establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). ● Proven track record of being a strong leader with excellent organizational skills as well as interpersonal skills such as communication, facilitation, mentoring, influence, team building, and decision-making. ● Strong understanding of service management structures and IT governance frameworks. ● Relevant experience in supervision and accountability of Network, Infrastructure, and Security staff and consultants. ● Relevant experience in the areas of content filtering, routing, switching, network security, firewalls, VMware virtual server infrastructure, storage area networks, disaster recovery planning, risk assessment, and fiscal accountability. ● Previous experience overseeing disaster recovery solutions, business continuity planning and validation testing. ● Strong knowledge of network and Internet communication technologies. ● Previous experience using Google Apps Administration Console for security configuration and policy management. ● Previous experience overseeing Voice Over IP (VOIP) systems especially Avaya and Cisco telephony systems. ● Practical experience leading large-scale network infrastructure and datacenter initiatives providing long-term scalable solutions for both operational and instructional technology. ● Knowledge and understanding of network security best practices. ● Experience leading staff including mentoring, training, planning growth, discipline, etc. ● Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols. ● Ability to analyze and resolve complex computer system issues, network infrastructure, and network security issues. ● Knowledge of cloud-based services - IaaS, SaaS, etc. ● Ability to work with vendors in a professional manner while protecting the interests of the district. ● Experience developing a 3-5 year district technology plan. ● Ability to work closely with principals and district leaders at all levels. Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Provides excellent communication across the Technology Department and throughout the organization. 2. Serves as a key member of the Technology Department leadership team. 3. Provides excellent personnel management in the Network, Infrastructure, and Security areas using a servant leadership approach. This includes effective recruitment, hiring, operation and supervision of staff. 4. Mentor department leaders and provide guidance and training opportunities for department staff. 5. Responsible for procuring 3rd party security and network engineering expertise as needed. 6. Provide project management and leadership for the Network, Infrastructure, and Security areas to see that projects are completed successfully in spite of various risks and challenges. 7. Interact with principals, district administration, teachers, and others to understand needs, provide solutions, and to actively participate in fulfilling the LISD Strategic Design Plan while representing the Technology Department in the most professional manner possible. 8. Serves as a technical liaison between campuses, instructional departments, operational departments, and other members of the Technology Department. 9. Build relationships with all stakeholders and determine key factors that lead to stakeholder satisfaction of services provided. Responsible for ensuring that an excellent level of customer service is being provided by the department and serves as an escalation point for principals or other district leadership that have unresolved problems. 10. Continually seek and implement new technologies or processes to make the district more efficient, run smoother, provide students and staff with technology to meet their changing needs and effectively communicate changes and other information to the district in a professional and timely manner. 11. Collaborate with technical staff when planning specific changes that will affect their jobs, and use effective communication to avoid unnecessary rework and time loss. 12. Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols, policies, and guidance to technology staff and to end-users. 13. Work closely with the Executive Director of Technical and Information Services and other district leaders to guide, develop, and maintain the district's Long-Range Technology Plan. 14. Assist in the development, management and monitoring of the budget including fiscal management in areas of E-Rate, the purchasing processes, grant funds, and bond funds. 15. Ensure the seamless and smooth purchase, planning, implementation, support, and maintenance of enterprise network electronics and datacenter hardware. 16. Actively involved in the purchasing process for Technology equipment including the selection and evaluation process, bids, awarding, vendor interactions, and working with Purchasing personnel to ensure proper guidelines are followed. Develop Board of Education recommendations for purchases and associated documentation. 17. Responsible for all aspects of network infrastructure including architectural planning, enterprise storage, enterprise compute, virtual server and storage environment, wireless access points and controllers, enterprise content filtering, all routing and switching, telecommunications, and the support and maintenance of the hardware and software for infrastructure, telecommunications, datacenter, disaster recovery, and network security. 18. Work collaboratively with the Infrastructure, Data Center, Telecom, and Multimedia teams to develop hardware and infrastructure refresh schedule and refresh implementation process. 19. Ensure the implementation and auditing of network security within all systems. Create, review, and manage security and standards. 20. Oversee knowledge management and configuration management for the Network, Infrastructure, and Security teams to document support status, organize operational procedures, and document changes and decisions. 21. Work closely with other technical departments such as the Digital Learning Department, the Safety and Security Department, and other divisions within the Technology Services Department in establishing a plan for providing campus support to teachers and staff, addressing ongoing needs, and providing recommendations. 22. Participate in the CFO’s cabinet meeting, as needed, Technology Advisory Committee, and other special groups. 23. Other duties as assigned. Professional Growth and Development: 24. Remain current in the computer and device, technology service, classroom technology, and network areas through organizational membership, conference attendance, analysis of current trends, current literature review, and interacting with other school districts. 25.
