Healthy Body/Healthy Soul is sponsored by the Health Choice Network, Inc. in
Miami, FL. Its mission is to ensure access to high quality, affordable health care
for patients, regardless of ability to pay. To do this, the Network assists member
health centers to improve the quality of health care services provided and
increase efficiency by integrating administrative, fiscal, management information
systems, program planning, and development, and clinical services. Health
Choice offers technical assistance and training as well as an array of other
services to all its members. Members include 7 Florida Community Health
Centers as well as health facilities in other states. It is a faith-based health
promotion program and disease prevention program implemented by Health
Choice Network and its member community health centers, churches in their
communities and other partners. One primary activity resulting from this program
is the provision of at least one “Healthy Sunday” even per year as well as followup for those participating in the event. East Pasco County through the Pasco
Regional Medical Center is one of the sites for this program. Other local
partners for this program include the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, the American
Cancer Society, health departments, the University of South Florida, the
University of Miami, Bristol Myers Squibb, and many others. The focus of this
group has been to strengthening existing/creating new partnerships, community
capacity building, create community-based health screening teams, identify a
health focus, and to develop buy-in and community/Community Health Center
ownership.
