Volume 11, Issue 1 Kaskaskia College Radiology Program Fall/Winter 2015-2016 X-RAY 197 On November 7th, the Kaskaskia College Radiology Program offered a class titled X-Ray 197 Advancements in Radiology. Radiographers participated in this educational opportunity and received 8 hours of CEU’s for this .5 credit course. The course was offered free to the program’s Clinical Instructors and $30 for all other radiographers. Breakfast, lunch, and prizes were provided and fun was had by all! This class was very successful and we are planning on hosting another academic class in the spring of 2017! CE awarded as defined by the ARRT: NOVEMBER 5th,2016 The KC Radiology Program will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary! It will be held at Bretz’s Winery in Carlyle. Mark your calendars!!. Academic courses relevant to the profession taken through a regionally accredited university or college can count for 16 CE credits for each academic semester credit or 12 CE credits for each academic quarter credit. Activities meeting the definition of an approved academic course (See Section 19) will be awarded credit at the rate of 12 CE credits for each academic quarter credit or 16 CE credits for each academic semester credit. An official transcript must include both the month and year the course was completed. An indication that the class was passed (pass/fail) or a grade of “C” or better is required to receive CE credit for an academic course. Approved Academic Course: A formal course of study that is relevant to the radiologic sciences and/or patient care as it relates to the radiologic sciences and is offered by a postsecondary educational institution accredited by a mechanism recognized by the ARRT. Relevant courses in the biologic sciences, physical sciences, radiologic sciences, health and medical sciences, social sciences, communication (verbal and written), mathematics, computers, management, or education methodology will be accepted. Some subject areas that will NOT be applicable include, but not limited to, courses in archeology, astronomy, fine arts, geology, geography, history, music, philosophy, and religion. 1st Edition Merrill’s 1949 Page 2 Kaskaskia College Pictures of Radiographers attending Nov. 10th Seminar Volume 11, Issue 1 Page 3 Radiology Club participate at the RSNA in Chicago The RSNA celebrated their annual meeting in Chicago: Innovation is the key to our future. The Kaskaskia College Radiology sophomore and freshmen students got the opportunity to visit Chicago and experience the RSNA. They took the Amtrak train to Chicago and stayed downtown. It was a wonderful opportunity to visit the city and experience the technical side of the imaging profession. Students were also required to visit vendors and write a paper concerning the aspect of purchasing equipment with all the different modalities. Kaskaskia [email protected] College Radiology Program CT, Cardiac Interventional, Vascular Interventional, Sonography, and Mammography The Kaskaskia College Radiology Program offers many courses available to registered technologists who want to advance their careers in the imaging profession. The CT program is a 1 semester certificate program. Equipment & Instrumentation, Patient Care, and Procedures are required courses which are offered online.
