October 28, 2008 CONTACT: Maryanne Aldrich FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (603) 747-9189 RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGISTS AT COTTAGE HOSPITAL CELEBRATE NATIONAL RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY WEEK Woodsville, NH – Cottage Hospital celebrates National Radiologic Technology Week to honor the hard work and accomplishments of its Radiologic Technologists. The Radiology Department will recognize technologists the week of November 2 through November 8, 2008. NRTW is celebrated each year during the week that includes Nov. 8, the day that German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the x-ray in 1895. Staffed by 15 full, part time and per diem technologists, Cottage Hospital Radiology Department performs more than 17,000 procedures annually. Many of Cottage’s R.T.s have worked for the hospital or in Radiology for more than 20 years and have witnessed the growth of the department and rapid advances in imaging technology. These technologists work with some of the most innovative equipment in the medical field to help identify pathologies, plan and administer treatment and restore patient health. R.T.s specialize in breast imaging, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and general diagnostic radiology. National Radiologic Technology Week was created by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists in 1979 and is a registered trademark of ASRT.
