accordance with hospital policies and philosophy.
• To observe different radiographic positioning techniques and procedures, i.e. broken bones,
Upper GI, etc.
• To learn procedures for processing digital images or developing X-rays.
• To observe the functions of the Radiologic Technologist in the operating room.
• To help set up rooms before exams.
• To learn the different equipment and different types of x-rays such as C.T. Scan, T-Spine,
MRI, Ultrasound, and portable machines, etc.
• To assist with transporting patients to and from Radiology.
• To assist with moving patients from bed to gurney, etc.
• To learn about the safety precautions needed for technologist and patients.
• To observe how patients are prepared for x-rays.
• To know what to look for on images and recognize incorrect techniques and good images
from bad ones.
• To know the flow of a patient and their records into, through and out of the imaging department.
• To research and list methods of Universal Precautions used to protect technologists from
communicable diseases.
• To research proper body mechanics needed to avoid injury while moving patients.
• To list three different contrast media used in the Medical Imaging Dept. and their uses.
• List and define ten positioning terms used in Radiologic Technology.
• List four ways to minimize the patient's dose of radiation exposure for medical x-rays.
• List three ways to minimize the occupational exposure received by Radiologic Technologists
while on the job.
• List and define four units of measurement used with radiation exposure.
• Learn how to inform pregnant patients of the risks of radiation to the fetus.
