EESA Technical Seminar Hosted by: Electric Energy Society of Australia – Qld Chapter You’re invited to an EESA Fundamental Series presentation. Introduction to EESA Fundamentals Series EESA Queensland is continuing with this technical program to provide training for engineers new to the electric energy industry. The program now includes introductory presentations covering essential topics in design, technology and construction. This is an opportunity for students and engineers new to the industry to build their knowledge of high voltage power systems. Experienced engineers seeking a refresher and CPD are also welcome to attend. DATE: Tuesday 15th November 2016 Topic: Introduction to High Voltage Circuit Breakers TIME: 3.30pm to 5.00pm This presentation is part of the EESA Fundamentals Series of technical talks, covering essential topics in electric energy for industry professions. Mira Gorna from ABB Australia will be talking about high voltage circuit breakers. VENUE: ABB Australia Level 9 757 Ann street Fortitude Valley, Qld. The circuit breaker is the most important switchgear component. It must be able to break and make the normal load current, but above all be able to interrupt short circuit currents due to faults in the system CONTACT: This presentation will provide an overview of HV circuit breakers including: Anthony Bordignon I Am Events Ph: 07 3834 3333 1. Theory: general interruption requirements, main components, three pole versus one pole operation, live tank versus dead tank circuit breakers 2. Design: SF6 interrupter design – puffer and auto puffer principles, operating mechanisms, composite insulators 3. Applications: circuit breaker selection criteria, standard and special applications, introduction to controlled switching 4. IEC Standards for HV circuit breakers EESA Technical Seminar Hosted by: Electric Energy Society of Australia – Qld Chapter Presenter: Mira Gorna – ABB Australia DATE: Tuesday 15th November 2016 TIME: 3.30pm to 5.00pm VENUE: ABB Australia Level 9 757 Ann street Fortitude Valley, Qld. CONTACT: Anthony Bordignon I Am Events Ph: 07 3834 3333 Mira holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering. She also has postgraduate training specialising in vocational teaching. During her professional career she has worked in mining, vocational education, distribution and transmission switchgear industry. Since 2006 Mira has been working as a sales manager of HV switchgear at the ABB Australia Power Grids. COST: EESA & EA members and current students are free (Student ID is required) Non members: $30.00 Join EESA and pay the member fee. Annual Membership Fee $88.00 incl. GST. CPD POINTS: By attending this technical presentation 1.5 of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points will be available for Engineers Australia members.
