Integumentary System
Skeletal System
Muscular System
Any living thing. Some may exist as a
single cell (unicellular) but most are
made of many cells (multicellular)
such as plants and animals.
The part of an organism that is made
up of tissues to perform a specific
job. Examples of organs include:
skin, heart, lungs, stems, leaves, and
roots.
A group of cells that function
together to meet a common purpose.
Examples include muscle, bone, and
cuticle (the outer covering of a
plant).
A group of organs that work
together performing a common
function. Examples of systems
include the skeleton, nervous and
vascular (tubes in plants).
Organs - Skin, hair, nails
Function - The integumentary
system reduces water loss, contains
receptors that respond to touch,
regulates body temperature, and
protects the inside of the body from
damage.
Organs - Muscles (smooth, skeletal
and cardiac muscles)
Function – Different types of
muscles enable motion, generate
heat to maintain body temperature,
move food through digestive tract,
and contract the heart.
The basic unit of life.
Organs – Bones
Function - The skeletal system
makes up the framework of the body
and allows us to move when our
muscles contract. It also protects
internal organs and produces blood
cells.
Circulatory System
Respiratory System
Digestive System
Nervous Systems
Organs – Lungs, larynx, pharynx,
trachea, bronchi
Function – The respiratory system
supplies oxygen to the blood and
removes carbon dioxide.
Organs - Heart, blood vessels
Function - The cardiovascular system
delivers oxygen, hormones, nutrients
and white blood cells around the
body by pumping blood, and it
removes waste products.
Organs – Brain and spinal cord.
Organs - Stomach, esophagus,
Function - it's the control center for salivary glands, liver, gallbladder,
your entire body. Your brain uses
information it receives from your
nerves to coordinate all of your
actions and reactions. Without it,
you couldn't exist!
pancreas, intestines
Function - The digestive system
stores and digests foods, transfers
nutrients to the body, eliminates
waste and absorbs water.
