Information Systems in Organizations 6.0 Artificial Intelligence Administrivia • Learn IT #5 is due tonight • Final Exam – 50 minute exam • Wednesday 5/4 - 5:45-6:45 • No dice on changing the time • Student Feedback Forms • Please do fill them out, they are important • They also help us restructure the course • Next week’s class Where are We? Agenda • Today we’re going to talk about AI Build Your Own Study Guide The AI Revolution: The Road to Superintelligence • What are 3 key points from this reading? • What are 3 important details from this reading? Students will be called upon at random Build Your Own Study Guide Bill Gates Says You Should Worry About Artificial Intelligence • What are 3 key points from this reading? • What are 3 important details from this reading? Students will be called upon at random What is AI? • Elon Musk: http://money.cnn.com/video/technology/2015/09/ 10/elon-musk-artificial-intelligence.cnnmoney/ • School of Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TRv0cXUVQ w Superintelligence The future of humanity in the age of superintelligent machines Wait But Why: The AI Revolution Wait But Why: The AI Revolution Wait But Why: The AI Revolution Wait But Why: The AI Revolution Wait But Why: The AI Revolution Three types or calibers of AI: • Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) • Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) • Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) ANI: Chess Program AGI: Human Level Intelligence ASI: Superintelligence Wait But Why: The AI Revolution ANI is everywhere: • Google maps • Autonomous cars • Spam filters • Google translate • Travel bookings • Manufacturing • Facebook suggestions Wait But Why: The AI Revolution 2010 Flash Crash: • ANI caused stock market to plummet • $1 trillion decline in value • Quick recovery Wait But Why: The AI Revolution • AGI is imminent • AGI is extremely complex and difficult • Requires enormous computational power (remember Moore’s Law?) • Companies are spending billions of dollars • Google • IBM • Cross domain optimization Wait But Why: The AI Revolution Computers still have a hard time with tests like these, but for how long? Students will be called upon at random Alan Turing (1912-1954) • Father of AI and computer science • Cryptanalyst during WWII • Cracked code that enabled Allies victory • Contributions to physical sciences (see Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction) • Died of cyanide poisoning • Receives public apology in 2009 and royal pardon in 2013 Turing’s Test The other Tests • The Coffee Test (Ben Goertzel) • A machine is given the task of going into an average American home and figuring out how to make coffee. It has to find the coffee machine, find the coffee, add water, find a mug, and brew the coffee by pushing the proper buttons. • The Robot College Student Test (Ben Goertzel) • A machine is given the task of enrolling in a university, taking and passing the same classes that humans would, and obtaining a degree. • The Employment Test (Nils John Nilsson) • A machine is given the task of working an economically important job, and must perform as well or better than the level that humans perform at in the same job. Would you pass a Turing Test From AGI to ASI Build Your Own Study Guide What is Watson? • What are 3 key points from this reading? • What are 3 important details from this reading? Students will be called upon at random IBM Watson • Analyzes unstructured data • Understands complex questions • Learns human constructs like language, culture, and context IBM Watson ^ Click image to watch video On Machine Learning • This is about pattern recognition • Lots of examples you’ve dealt with • • • • Spam Filters OCR Google search optimization On demand advertising How does it work? Many Ways • Decision trees – Predictive modeling • Association Rule Learning - Stats • Deep learning – Mimicking human decision making • Clustering – KNN approach • Bayesian inference – Start with a series of priors, which are refined systematically • Way more WBW: From AGI to ASI Discussion Questions? • What do you think about the premise that human consciousness is a function of computational power? • What is the role of free will? • What do you think the future holds? • What happens when you google laser cats?
