Grade Seven Accelerated Scope and Sequence Unit 1 – Rational Numbers 5 Weeks September 3 – October 4 (24 instructional days) Reteaching/Enrichment: Week of October 7 – October 11 (+4 instructional days, 1 testing) Standards Number System Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers. Know that there are numbers that are not rational, and approximate them by rational numbers. Unit 2 – Exponents 4 Weeks October 15 – November 15 (22 instructional days) Reteaching/Enrichment: Week of November 18 – November 27 (+6 instructional days, 1 testing) Expressions and Equations Work with radicals and integer exponents. Unit 3 – Proportionality 5 Weeks December 2 – January 17 (26 instructional days) Reteaching/Enrichment: Week of January 21 – January 24 (+3 instructional days, 1 testing) Ratios and Proportional Relationships Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. Expressions and Equations Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions. Solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations. Unit 4 –Linear Relationships 6 Weeks January 27 – March 14 (30 instructional days) Reteaching/Enrichment: Week of March 17 – March 21 (+4 instructional days, 1 testing) Expressions and Equations Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations. Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations. Unit 5 – Introduction to Sampling Inference 4 Weeks March 24 – April 25 (20 instructional days) Reteaching/Enrichment: Week of April 28 – May 2 (+4 instructional days, 1 testing) Statistics and Probability Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population. Draw informal comparative inferences about two populations. Investigate chance processes and develop, use, and evaluate probability models. Unit 6 – Creating, Comparing, and Analyzing Geometric Figures 5 Weeks May 5 – June 6 (24 instructional days) Reteaching/Enrichment: Week of June 9 – June 12 (+4 instructional days, 1 testing) Geometry Draw, construct, and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them. Solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, volume, and volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. Understand congruence and similarity using physical models, transparencies, or geometry software.
