OSAP PREVENTIONIST ASSITANT
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC), located in Taos NM, is a nonprofit work and education organization serving
northern New Mexico. Corpsmembers are aged 16 to 25 and represent a variety of racial, economic, and ethnic groups.

Non-exempt, hourly, $10.00 - $12.00 per hour, depending on experience.

OSAP Preventionist
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist OSAP Preventionist in managing and monitoring day-to-day operations of the NM Office of Substance Abuse
Prevention (OSAP) contract to reduce adult and youth DWI and binge drinking in Taos County including:
 Assist with RMYC data reporting (monthly)
 Participate in partnering network composed of representatives from/including: schools, local government,
youth, youth providers, non-profits, business community, law enforcement agencies, faith-based
community, legal and financial, as well as state & national agencies which can be used to meet program
objectives towards DWI and Binge drinking goals.
 Develop and provide public presentations to schools/youth, key stakeholders and other elected officials,
youth providers, parent groups, and other youth providers.
 Develop and implement a media/awareness campaigns that utilizes community-based processes and
philosophies. This campaign will include 24 messages on 4 radio stations plus 10 print media pieces.
 Meet with TMS schools HS and MS principals and social workers to discuss and develop ongoing
relationship and collaboration to reduce Alcohol. Tobacco and other Drugs (ATOD) incidences on school
property.
 Submit required documenting paperwork in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED





Excellent organizational skills
Strong computer skills, proficiency in word processing, power point, and excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a cooperative with other community
organizations working on similar projects; Excellent organizational skills
Must have a flexible schedule, willingness to travel for training and on occasion work nights/weekend to
participate in various presentations and DWI checkpoints
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preffered
EDUCATION:
College or vocational or technical training in related field preferred. Four-year College preferred, but in
exceptional cases, relevant work experience and willingness to learn new skill set may be substituted for
part of the education requirement.
