What is Islam?
Islam means “submission”
Muslim means “one who submits”
Submission to Allah’s will as defined in his book the Qur’an
(Koran)
Who was Mohammed?
The last and greatest prophet of Allah, “the seal of the prophets”
Received the dictation of the Qur’an through the Angel Gabriel
What is the Qur’an (Koran)?
The sacred book of Islam and the perfect word of Allah for the
Muslim.
Islam teaches that it contains the total and perfect revelation and
will of Allah.
What are the Five Pillars of Islam?
1. Shahada: The Confession of Faith
“there is no god but Allah and Mohammad is his prophet”
2. Salat: Prayer
Five times per day facing Mecca
3. Zakat: Almsgiving
Two and one half percent
4. Sawm: The fast
From sunrise to sunset during the month of Ramadan
5. Hajj: Pilgrimage
Once in a lifetime to Mecca

1. Be courteous and loving
2. Reflect interest in their beliefs.
3. Be acquainted with their basic beliefs.
4. Stick to the primary doctrines of the Christian faith.
5. Point out the centrality of the Person and work of Jesus Christ
for salvation
6. Stress that through Jesus, His cross, and resurrection one can
have full assurance of salvation.
7. Share the plan of salvation as a gift, not something to be
earned.
8. Pray for the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Trust Him to provide
wisdom and grace.
9. Be willing to become a friend and personal witness to the
Muslims.
