Final Exam - Review
Sheet
You will be tested on all of the topics for your final exam. Be sure you are able to do all of the
different types of problems! BIG HINT: Know the vocab for each chapter!!
I. BASIC SKILLS – We have done a lot of reviewing of basic skills this year. Your final will include
this review. You should know how to do the following types of problems, without using a calculator:
 Multiplication
 Long division
 Adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions and mixed numbers
 Converting fractions to decimals and percents, and vice versa
 Order of operations
 Naming, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals
II. CHAPTER 1 – You should know how to do the following things to review for chapter 1:
 Solve linear equations
 Be able to name lines, points, segments, rays, and planes
 Define coordinate plane, quadrants, ordered pair, x-axis, y-axis, origin, x-coordinate, ycoordinate, collinear, noncollinear, coplanar, noncoplanar and graph ordered pairs
 Graph a line in the form y = mx + b
 Solve area and perimeter problems
 Use the distance formula to find the distance between 2 pts on a number line and 2 pts in a
coordinate plane
 Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the third side in a right triangle
 Find the midpoint of 2 points on a number line and 2 points in a coordinate plane
 Use a compass to copy and bisect a segment
 Measure, name, and classify angles
 Use a compass to copy and bisect an angle
 Use the angle addition postulate to find the measures of angles
 Identify and use adjacent angles, vertical angles, complementary angles, supplementary
angles, linear pairs of angles, and perpendicular lines
 Determine what information can and cannot be assumed from a diagram
 Use the segment addition postulate

Chapter 1 Review Packet
III. CHAPTER 2 – You should know how to do the following things to review for chapter 2:
 Make conjectures based on inductive and deductive reasoning and determine if conjectures
are true or false
 Identify the hypothesis and conclusion of a conditional statement
 Write a statement in if-then form, write the converse and inverse, and identify if the
converse and inverse are true or false
 Be able to provide counterexamples
 Be able to use postulates, theorems, and laws to write proofs
 Use the Law of Detachment and the Law of Syllogism to find valid conclusions
 Use the Properties of Equality for Real Numbers in proofs
 Be able to write a simple 2-column proof

IV. CHAPTER 3 – You should know how to do the following things to review for chapter 3:
 Define and identify parallel lines, skew lines, and transversals
 Identify symbols for parallel and perpendicular lines
 Solve problems by drawing a diagram
 Name angles formed by a pair of lines and a transversal: exterior angles, interior angles,
consecutive interior angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, corresponding angles
 Use the properties of parallel lines to determine angle measures
 Find the slopes of lines and use slope to identify parallel and perpendicular lines ****Very
Important! Be able to do this!! ***
 Prove 2 lines are parallel using angle relationships

V. CHAPTER 4 – You should know how to do the following things to review for chapter 4:
 Identify the parts of triangles and classify triangles by their parts – acute triangle, obtuse
triangle, right triangle, equiangular triangle, scalene triangle, isosceles triangle, and equilateral triangle
 Draw triangles with given conditions
 Identify and use the exterior angle and remote interior angles of a triangle
 Use the Angle Sum Theorem and the Exterior Angle Theorem
 Use given information and diagrams to find the measures of angles
 Name and label corresponding parts of congruent triangles
 Use SSS, SAS, AAS, and ASA to test for triangle congruence
 Solve a basic logic problem
 Use properties of isosceles and equilateral triangles

VII. HOW TO STUDY FOR THIS EXAM –
 First, read over your notes! It will help you – we defined a lot of terms in your notes and it
never hurts to look over examples.
 Go to the chapter review in your book and do a couple of problems and then check your
answers in the back of the book or with Mrs. Beery. If you don’t understand something, ask right
away – the day of the exam is too late!
 I know it is hard, but DON’T PROCRASTINATE! Start early, and maybe do one chapter at
a time so that you are not overwhelmed.
 Have confidence!!!! A lot of this stuff is familiar, so concentrate on what you need to
review, one step at a time. You can pass this test – it is just a big quiz. No Problem!!! 
