That in many cases the experiences of the past can be used to teach people in the present. And that knowledge of the past can prove to be valuable to the student in understanding why things are the way they are today. We will also discuss “Help Wanted” Ads and their function in attracting workers. The students will be familiarized with the fact that such ads are designed to make a job sound attractive and worthwhile and the qualifications an applicant would need. Assessment will be informal based on student participation and desire to involve themselves in the research. We will also look at the process whereby Early Human history progressed from simple hunter gatherers to the impact the Agricultural Revolution had on the development of early city states. We will continue our look at the past and the present through the prism of ancient Sumer. We will continue to focus on the fact that history is circular and that the Needs of the people in the past are in fact the same needs we are dealing with today. To clarify we will use an employment project to support our discussion. Students will be asked to research the selected job and create a help wanted ad advertising this position in the Ur Express. The project is intended to get the students to gain experience utilizing the computer, analyzing the selected type of work and writing effectively. A copy of the project is attached.
