Prostate Cancer Early Detection Updated

Updates include the addition of doripenim to the
Antibacterial Agents Tables and tenofovir DF to the
Antiviral Agents Tables. Updates regarding seasonal
and pandemic strains of influenza, including H1N1, were

The Oncology Nursing Society
and the American Society of
Clinical Oncology (ASCO) have
collaborated to develop the first
national standards for the safe
administration of chemotherapy
drugs. These standards will
serve as a benchmark for
providers of adult cancer care in the ambulatory
setting and encourage them to evaluate their current
practice.
Through the efforts of a multidisciplinary work
group, the standards have been developed to help
practitioners avoid chemotherapy administration
errors, develop policies and procedures for system
improvement, and undertake a multi-disciplinary
review of errors when needed. The ASCO web site will
also include a guide to help practices review and
develop policies and procedures needed to adhere to
these chemotherapy standards.
These standards, to be published in both the
Oncology Nursing Forum and Journal of Clinical
Oncology, are now available on the ONS web site, at
