The 20 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI-07) is being conducted in India for the first time at
Hyderabad from January 06 to 12, 2007.
IJCAI-07 aims at being an important scientific landmark after 50 years of the field. The theme of the conference has been chosen
as “Artificial Intelligence and Its Benefits to Society” to enable the understanding of the existing and potential contributions of
artificial intelligence research and development to the quality of life in societies, particularly in the developing world. The conference
will include oral and poster presentations of technical papers, panel discussions and invited talks on the theme, apart from PreConference Tutorials and Workshops from 06 to 08 Jan 2007.
CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS FOR CONFERENCE (09 – 12 Jan 2007) (www.ijcai07.org) at HICC
Programme Committee invites technical paper submissions on significant, original, and previously unpublished research on all
aspects of artificial intelligence. Technical papers, not to exceed six pages, will be accepted for oral or poster presentation, in one
of twelve major areas, namely, constraint satisfaction, control learning, learning, knowledge representation and reasoning, multiagent systems, natural language processing, planning and scheduling, robotics, search, uncertainty, web/information retrieval/data
mining. Other AI applications including Art, Music, Artificial Life, Philosophical foundations, Mathematical Foundations are also
solicited.
IMPORTANT SUBMISSION FACTS
 June 23 and June 30, 2006, 23:59 EDT (New York Time) are hard deadlines for abstract and paper submissions, respectively
– deadlines will not be extended.
 Papers must be submitted online at www.ijcai-07.org – papers will not be reviewed if submitted in any other form (e.g., e-mail
or paper).
 Paper submissions must not exceed six pages in pdf format fully complying with the formatting instructions – papers that
violate these requirements will be rejected without review (See web site for formatting instructions).
 Papers must be submitted with authors’ names and affiliations omitted for blind review. Papers that violate this anonymity
requirement will be rejected without review. Submission of the article assumes that one author will present an accepted paper
or poster at the conference. Partial financial support may be available for some deserving authors.
 Authors are fully responsible to follow the complete submission details.

CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS (06–08 Jan 2007) (www.ijcai07.org/call_tutorial_proposal.html) at IIIT, Hyderabad
Tutorial proposals are invited by e-mail/hard copy, serving one or more of the following objectives: (i) introduce novices to major
topics of AI; (ii) introduce expert non specialists to an AI sub-area; (iii) motivate and explain a topic of emerging importance for AI;
(iv) survey a mature area of AI research and/or practice; (v) provide instruction in established but specialized AI methodologies; (vi)
present a novel synthesis combining distinct lines of AI work. Recommendations of topics or presenters are welcome to the Tutorial
Chair.

CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS (06 – 08 Jan 2007) (www.ijcai07.org/call_workshop.html) at IIIT, Hyderabad
Workshops that focus on new and emerging topics, or on applications, are particularly encouraged. Proposals for workshops (by email only) should be a maximum of five pages in length, and, in addition to all the complete contact information for the organizers, it
should contain: (i) a technical description of the workshop, including the workshop goals; (ii) the reason of interest of the topic; (iii) a
draft workshop agenda and an organizing schedule; (iv) if available, a list of tentatively confirmed attendees; (v) a list of related
workshops held within the last three years, if any, and their relation to the proposed workshop.
