Teaching Assistantship for Engineering Mathematics. Publications and Talks: Constraint Based Parser Using Integer Programming. ICON-02 ( International Conference on Natural Language Processing ) Talk on Machine Translation from English to Indian languages at ‘Rastra bhasha sanghosti-2003’ held by Ministry of HRD at IIT-Guwahati. Achievements: Outstanding performer award in TCS training (July’03-Aug’03). IIIT Deans list Scholarship for four successive semesters. First Prize in National Science Fair (Dist. Level) – 1997. Software Skills: Programming Languages: C, C++, Perl, VB Operating Systems: GNU/Linux, HP Unix, Windows 98/2000/XP Developer’s Environments: VC++ in Visual Studio I have a working experience of more than 4 years in C and Perl. My experience with C++ is 2 year. I worked both as part of a team and individually. Projects: Axys Conversion [TCS] (Sep’03 – till date): This is a maintenance / development project. It is being done for AT & T Wireless systems. The domain is Telecommunications. Its goal is to use an existing framework to migrate customer base from a legacy system (Main Frames) to a customer care database (Sibel). Team Size: 5 Languages: C++, Perl, shell scripts. Platform: HP-Unix Role: Programmer, Tester and Project Lead (offshore component) Machine Translation from English to Hindi ( B.Tech Final year project): This is an ongoing project in LTRC (Language Technologies Research Center, IIITHYD). This project involves designing and implementing a framework for machine translation from English to any Indian language. The first language which was tested was Hindi. An online version of this system is accessible from http://gdit.iiit.net/~mt/shakti. This is released as a kit in ICON’03, Mysore. Team Size: 11 Languages: Perl, Perl-CGI, C. Duration: 1 yr Role: Over all project in charge, architecture designer and programmer, complete design, implementation and maintenance of user interface of the system. Chunker for Hindi Language: This involves shallow parsing of Hindi. Here simple noun and verb phrases in a sentence are recognized using a rule based system. The noun phrases are identified using a naïve statistical approach which uses an empirical HMM developed using the language expert’s inputs. Team Size: 3 Languages: Perl, C. Duration: 3 months Role: Programmer and designer. Hand written digit Recognition using Artificial Neural Networks: An Artificial Neural Network of three layers is trained on a data set of 60k samples of hand written digits. Then it is used for the recognition of hand written digits. A test set of 10k samples was used. In this project we tested different architectures of ANNs and studied their behavior. Team Size: 1 Languages: C, C++ Duration: 2 months Intelligent Agents: An agent has been developed which plans and executes the plan in a highly dynamic environment. This agent communicates with the server which provides a world model. It has its own beliefs and goals. The agent plans to achieve these goals either individually or with the cooperation of other agents. Team Size: 4 Language: C, C++ Duration: 4 months Role: Team coordinator, Designer and programmer. Miscellaneous: In addition to the above mentioned projects I also worked in building a simple text to speech system, a parser for Indian languages, students and administrative database for IIIT-HYD, Fuzzy system which demonstrates the parking of a truck in a very smooth way using Fuzzy set theory, simple image processing tool kit and development of user interfaces for network sniffer, language accessories, machine translation systems. Interests: Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Soft computing techniques like fuzzy systems, Neural networks, Genetic algorithms and Developing user interfaces. Miscellaneous: Watching TV and reading novels are my favorite hobbies. Cartoon network, NGC, MTV, HBO are some of my favorite channels. I like visiting places and trekking. I am an optimist except while programming. I like working in a team.
