Universität Hamburg invites applications for a Research Associate in accordance with Section 28 subsection 1 of Hamburg's Higher Education Act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz,
HmbHG*). The position commences on January 1, 2018 or later.
It is remunerated at the salary level TV-L 13 and calls for 25,35
hours of work per week.
The short-term nature of this contract is based upon § 2 of the Academic Short-Term Labor
Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The initial fixed term is three
years.
The University aims to increase the number of women in research and teaching and explicitly
encourages qualified women to apply. Equally qualified female applicants will receive preference in accordance with Hamburg’s Higher Education Act (HmbHG).
Tasks:
Associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The associate will have the
opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At
least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the associate's own academic
work.
Area(s) of Responsibility:
The Biological Psychology and Neuropsychology (BPN) unit of the University of Hamburg
(Germany) seeks for a PhD candidate with a background and interest in experimental
psychology (particular multisensory processing in humans) and cognitive neuroscience.
The position is funded by the University of Hamburg (E13, 65% §28(1)) and comes with a
teaching requirement of 2,3 h/week (SWS). The PhD project will address multisensory
processes and neuroplasticity using behavioral and EEG methods (see research of BPN).
Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant subject. The required qualifications are: Master degree in
psychology, neuroscience or related discipline, strong background in experimental psychology,
research interests in multisensory processing and neuroplasticity, good familarity with
EEG/ERP methods and some knowledge of experimental programming. A good command of
English and high competence in statistics are essential.
