GENERAL DESCRIPTION – ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an energetic Sales & Marketing Manager who is up for a challenge and shares our values:

Take on a key role in our dynamic customer focused luxury food businesses producing the finest quality chicken, Christmas turkeys &
accompaniments. Responsible for relationship management with current and new customers alongside managing the consumer & trade
marketing activities for both brands to build brand awareness and grow the national consumer base.
The two brands are dedicated to product quality and service to match, they have many synergies but with different challenges requiring
different marketing approaches. Operating since 1957 Copas Traditional Turkeys is an established award-winning brand with strong
heritage and a dedicated foodie following. The Thoughtful Producer was launched in 2015 and requires a start up approach to
marketing and sales to introduce the brand to local and national consumers on a shoe-string budget.

Use your “can-do” problem solving attitude to deliver projects on time. Tasks will include customer account management, online, social
media & email communications, online commerce and farmgate sales, events, marketing material production, advertising design, and PR
agency management.
Business acumen, relationship management, attention to detail, creative writing and design, good command of the English language &
passion for food essential!
Key Responsibilities leading the continued success and development of the Copas Very Very Special turkey brand and introducing
The Thoughtful Producer brand through retail and wholesale channels:
1.
Building the national customer base by face to face contact & relationship building with stockists and prospects to develop business
together.
2.
Develop an annual Sales and Marketing Strategy and Implementation plan to maximise the limited budget using a small business
approach.
3.
Management of our online presence including our Website / social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) / Google campaigns
4.
Management of our advertising and other promotional activities including local, national food press and retailer marketing support.
5.
PR & Design Work – Design materials where possible and manage any external agencies with clear briefing and setting of annual
targets and reviews.
6.
Attendance at relevant adhoc events to promote the brand, retail sales and build key relationships (Awards; Events; Exhibitions etc.)
7.
Responsibility for the operations and promotion of our online retail shop including promotional plans, outstanding customer service
and dispatch to grow retail sales year on year / month on month.
8.
Accountability for the sales financials – price and margin strategy. Budget Management of the Marketing function.
9.
Long-term brand development – develop and deliver new ideas and strategies for the long-term brand building e.g. rebranding

CORE ROLE – FURTHER DETAIL
Dependent on the annual requirements of the business the role may include the following:
Sales Strategy, Planning & Budget Responsibility






Responsible for influencing and implementing the annual Sales strategy within the overall annual business goals set by the
Board (February). To include Stockists, Companies, Wholesalers, Catering, Home Delivery and Farmgate customers.
Responsible for the annual Sales plan – a forecast document reporting monthly to achieve sell out and new business
opportunities
Display analytical skills to review and research the sales environment to define potential opportunities
Responsible for setting and managing the Sales budget. Submitting the budget for approval by the Director and ongoing
budget management throughout the year
Responsible for the Customer perspective in the annual pricing strategy. Responsible for maintaining all agreed margins and
drafting proposals for key accounts.
Deliver an annual Sales review at the end of the season to include full market analysis (February)
Sales & Account Management









Regular stockist visits to meet all customers, developing new business targets and business development as required
Organisation and attendance at trade/industry/consumer events to network with customers, stockists and prospects
Stockist & Prospect database management, reporting, and development
Collation, analysis and interpretation of annual and ongoing customer feedback
Development of Customers & New Business Mailers & Communications including email
Organisation & Despatch of Marketing kit to kickstart the wholesale selling season
Manage all Stockist orders and process from provisional orders to confirmation and delivery
Management of Home Delivery and Farm Gate Sales plan year-round and for the Christmas season
Accompaniments range – Be responsible for the management and development of the Accompaniment range working with
the distributors

Materials stock management, forecasting & ordering

Stock control for year round sales (chicken, frozen product & Accompaniments)
Marketing Strategy, Planning, & Budget responsibility

(March)
Responsible for the annual Marketing plan – a document reporting monthly on year-round promotion and building to the
Christmas season

Deliver an annual Marketing review at the end of the season (January)
Marketing Collateral & Packaging





Development of key messaging for each season
Management and design of all marketing collateral to include merchandising, brochures, posters, event materials, adverts
(inhouse wherever possible)
Sourcing and print management of all marketing collateral
Produce Marketing input into product development
Manage the sourcing of all branded packaging materials, packaging improvement, NPD requirement

Title
Manage and develop our Social Media presence year round to include Twitter, facebook, Instagram, Linked In, blogs etc
Manage the website to include development, improvements and continual maintenance
Manage our online commerce site for both brands creating retail strategy to grow farmgate and home delivery sales
Advertising, PR & Promotion






Develop an advertising campaign to an agreed annual budget to include local and national foodie focus
Develop promotions with associate brands / media to promote the brand in a cost effective way
Award applications
Manage the PR agency for the annual Christmas seasonal focus (consumer press) and year-round coverage to include clear
briefing on message, coordination of farm visits and building journalist relationships
Create local PR opportunities and activities to build the brand year-round
Create national trade PR to include press releases, building trade press relationships & opportunities
Christmas (Production Period)

Lead the team with all wholesale customer communication, order finalising and delivery confirmation

Coordinate with production to manage customer specific production requirements e.g. packaging, palletisation

Manage the Home Delivery & Farmgate sales tracking & pro-actively respond to maximise sales

Support Farmgate collection and the despatch of Home Delivery including customer contact plans

Be an active team player with a “muck in” approach assisting with customer contact where required

Oversight of the Complimentary & Charity turkeys (organised by admin)

Take advantage of last minute/seasonal PR/Marketing opportunities locally and nationally
Long-term Planning


Be involved a long-term planning for the business and brand development
Lead long-term brand development projects as required by the Directors
General




Be a key team player and Manager in the business
Take ongoing training and attend seminars to continually refresh our sales approach
Operate with professional and respect for all employees and colleagues
