PK Structures Mezzanines
Detailing the Differences
Feature: Guardrail (handrail) Design
Benefits
1. Code Compliance: PK Structures guardrails consist of 2 rails and a 4”
structural angle kickplate. This design meets the most common National
Building Codes and Design Codes (IBC, UBC, BOCA, SBCCI, OSHA) for
structures intended for industrial applications.
2. Factory Welded Design: PK Structures guardrail is a factory welded, one
piece panel that quickly fastens to the mezzanine deck. This design reduces
the chance of fit problems resulting from columns protruding through the deck
surface to which the rail would need to be fastened. This is a unique design
that is used only by PK Structures. Installation does not require field
assembly of sections using pipe fittings or other labor intensive devices. This
reduces installation time, saving time and money.
3. Strength: Guardrail panels fasten directly to the mezzanine deck surface
and withstand lateral forces exceeding 350 PSI. The required lateral load
resistance required by the National Building Codes is 200 PSI.
