Discovery Group Risk has designed a flexible solution that will protect National Small Business Chamber (NSBC) employees and their families throughout their lives. NSBC members can get Life Cover, Capital Disability Cover and Funeral Cover at very competitive prices through the NSBC Umbrella scheme for their staff. You can get cover for your employees for as little as R100 per month. Life Cover Benefit The Life Cover Benefit will pay a lump sum in the event of an NSBC member or their employees’ death, giving their families the financial support they need. Global Education Protector As part of the Life Cover Benefit, members that are on category three and four will also receive the Global Education Protector. We cover education from pre-school to tertiary level. All South African universities are included in this benefit, as well as universities of technology (technikons) and recognised institutions providing education for a trade. Your children could even attend international universities like Harvard, Cambridge and Oxford. Under this benefit, Discovery Life Group Risk guarantees the payment of the education fees of your children. Payments will be made directly to the institution where the child is being educated and will be made until the child completes a three-year qualification. There is no limitation on the number of children covered per member. Capital Disability Benefit The Capital Disability Benefit provides a lump sum to ensure your employees remain financially secure in the event of becoming disabled and not being able to earn income. Should a member become disabled an amount equal to 50% or 100% of the chosen cover will be paid to him/her. This would depend on the severity of the disability and the impact the disability has on the member’s ability to earn an income. (The definition of disability during the first 12 months of claim is when you cannot perform your own job at your own employer). There is a 12 month exclusion for pre-existing conditions. There is no waiting period attached to this benefit. Funeral Cover Benefit The Funeral Cover Benefit provides a lump sum payment to cover the cost of a funeral in as little as 48 hours. The employee, three spouses and five children will be covered on this policy. Additional benefits with Discovery Group Risk Life Continue your benefits: Continuation option The Capital Disability Benefit, Global Education Protector and the Funeral Cover Benefit ends on resignation, retrenchment, retirement or age 65. However because Discovery Life is designed to accommodate the dynamic needs of our policyholders the Continuation option benefit can be selected by the employee to enable him or her to take out an individual LIFE PLAN with Discovery Life for same benefits they enjoyed under the Group Risk LIFE PLAN.
