Weekly Spelling Homework
Read the choices below and decide which activities you would like to complete. You
may choose any combination of
2
activities per week.
Spelling Homework is due FRIDAY morning and no earlier or later! Have Fun!
*The non- written activities will require a parent signature verifying that work
was completed. Put papers together in a folder and be sure your name in on
the papers before turning them in.
1. Write Them - Write your words 2 times each
2. ABC Order - Write your words in ABC order
3 .Rainbow Words - Write your words in three colors
4. Silly sentences -Use your words in ten sentences
5. Picture words - Draw a picture and write your words in the picture.
6. Twice is nice! Using holiday colors write your words 2 times each making
all vowels one color and all consonants another color. (Orange and black, red
and green, red and pink)
7. Scrambled words -Write your words, and then write them again with the
letters mixed up. Ask someone to unscramble them
8. Alphabet Magnets- Use the alphabet magnets on the refrigerator or a
cookie sheet to write your spelling words.
9. Surround words - Write your words on graph paper and outline in colors.
10. Bubble words - Write your words in BUBBLE letters.
11. Pyramid Words - Write your words adding or subtracting one letter at a
time. The result will be a pyramid shape of words.
12. Words-in-words - Write your word and then write at least 2 words
made from each.
13. Good Clean Words -Write your words in shaving cream on a counter or
some other surface that can be cleaned safely.
14. Pasta Words - Write your words by arranging alphabet pasta or
Alphabets. Glue on paper or bring me a note from a parent and do on a
table or counter at home.
15. Reversed words - Write your words in ABC order -backwards!
16. 3D words - Use modeling clay rolled thinly to make your words.
17. Magazine words - Use an old magazine or newspaper and find your
word. Cut it out and glue it on paper.
18. Cheer your words - Pretend you are a cheerleader and call out your
words! Sometimes you'll yell, sometimes you'll whisper! If you do this at
home with a parent, get them to send me a note that you've done it.
19. Sound Words - Use a tape recorder and record your words and their
spelling. Then listen to your tape, checking to see that you spelled all the
words correctly.
20. X Words - Write two words having one common letter so they crisscross. Try to criss cross all of your words.
21. Other Handed - If you are right-handed, write with your left, or vice
versa.
22. Back writing - Using your finger, draw each letter on a partners' back,
having the partner say the word when completed.
23. Flash writing - In a darkened room, use a flashlight to draw letters in
the air.
24. Newspaper Words - Search a newspaper page from top to bottom,
circling each letter of a word as you find it
25. Popsicles – Write your words on popsicle sticks to make a pick up
sticks game.toss them down pick them up reading each word as you go.
26. Secret Agent Words - Number the alphabet from 1 to 26, and then
convert your words to a number code.
27. Etch-A-Word - Use an Etch-A-Sketch to write your words.
28. Sidewalk Chalk - Use sidewalk chalk to write your spelling words on the
driveway or under the carport.
29. Word search -Make a word search with a friend, then trade and solve.
30. Long and Short - Write your words in order from longest word to
shortest word and then shortest word to longest.
31. Divide and Conquer- Divide each spelling word into syllables.
32. Dictionary Search -Look up each word in the dictionary and write the
guide words for each
33. Type it up - Type your words 4 times each
34. Spelling “BEES”- draw an outdoor picture. Draw a bee for each of your
spelling words. Then write the words inside each of the Spelling “BEES”
35. Make a chart - Label it
1 vowel
2 vowels
3 or more vowels
Write your words in the correct columns.
36. Dot it.. Write your spelling words in DOTS using a regular pencil.
Connect the dots by tracing over them with a colored pencil.
37. Find the Vowels - Write your spelling words. Then go back and circle
all of the vowels…………………A, E, I, O, U
New 38 – BIG and little- Write your spelling words two times each. The
first time write them using all UPPER case letters. Write your words a
second time using all lower case letters.
New 39 – Up the Down – Write each of your spelling words across and then
down

40. Poem - Write a poem using your words in your best handwriting. Give it
a title and illustrate it.
41. How funny! - Create a comic strip and write captions using your words.
Underline your words
42. I saw it on TV #1 - Pretend you are a news anchor, weather person, or
reporter. Using your spelling words, write a report.
43. I saw it on TV # 2
Write a T.V. commercial for your favorite toy or game. Use at least 1/2 of
the spelling words
44. Super Letter - Use all your words to write a letter to Superman or
another super action Hero...
45. Story Words- Write a short story using all of your spelling words.
Underline the spelling words.
46. Make It Complete -Write complete sentences and /or questions or
commands using your spelling words and your vocabulary words, be sure to
use at least one descriptive word in each sentence. Underline the subject
and circle the verb.
