1. Minutes of the Last Meeting/Matters Arising
The minutes from the last meeting were approved.
2. WHCC Meeting
AG informed us that there was WCCG PPG meeting on Tuesday19th May at
Old Market House. It was agreed that AG would attend. There was talk that
this was going to be a senate meeting and it will be the formation of the
WCCG PPG.
3. NAPP Patient Participation Week 2015:- June 1st - 6th
A rota will be made for this week when Members advise MP of their
availability. We will also use the questionnaire that was used last year to see
if any other patients would like to join the PPG.
4. Fire Prevention Talk by Wirral District Prevention Manager.
This talk was given by Helen Everett. She discussed how some people were
high risk and vulnerable. Patients were able to have a fire safety check to
decrease the risk of fire.
The main risks were smoking, cooking, candles, electrical items and portable
heaters
Smoking risks were such as full ashtrays, burn marks in carpets, smoking in
bed, oxygen in room and using a bin instead of an ashtray.
Cooking risks were leaving cooking unattended and getting distracted.
Candles were often used without appropriate holders.
Electrical items – plugs were often overloaded or items left on and they then
have an electrical fault.
Main items to remember – unplug items, know your escape routes, take
keys/phone into bedroom, close doors when room not in use, do not leave
items when cooking.
5. Think Pharmacy.
MP gave a list of all the conditions that could be seen by the pharmacist
under this scheme. The scheme means that patients do not need to see the GP
for certain medications, such as acne, headlice, high temperature. If the
patient normally gets free prescriptions, then they will get the items free. If
the patient normally pays for their prescriptions then the maximum cost will
be the price of a prescription.
There is a further level to this scheme, which hasn’t started yet – but this
will involve pharmacists prescribing ‘prescription-only medication’.
Any Other Business
AS let us know that the information about the aneurysm screening had been
very useful and she had passed it on to 4 ladies at the gym, for their
husbands.
MP discussed that the Practice were setting up a Facebook account to try to
get younger people interested in what is happening at the surgery. It will link
the surgery website and the PPG Blog. MP will let everyone know when it is
set up.
Date of next meeting - Monday 15th June 2015 5.00pm - 6.pm
