Shang Social Classes The Shang dynasty had many classes up to five in total. The First class was the king and his nobles which ruled over the kingdom. The next class is the priests of the country helping peasants with rituals. Third is the merchants who traded goods with everyone. Last class is the farmers and craftsmen who made the goods for the merchants to sell. Shang Silk Making Shang Dynasty The Shang dynasty started to make silk by learning that certain worms make a cocoon that when weaved feels like no other clothing.
