Exercise physiology
This interactive and practical education activity will provide participants with an insight into exercise
interventions that assist in the management of pregnancy and chronic medical conditions to improve health
and wellbeing and to reduce the risk of injury and other associated complications.

Learning Outcomes
 Recognise the role of an Exercise Physiologist (EP) in the management of pregnancy and chronic disease
patients by providing physical activity education, advice and support to reduce risk and complications
 Identify key strategies to encourage patients to overcome apprehension in relation to EP referrals and
engaging in appropriate exercise activities
 Explore examples of appropriate clinical exercise interventions during pregnancy and for people at high-risk of
developing or with existing chronic/complex medical conditions
 Discuss the Adult Pre-Exercise Screening Tool as a mechanism to identify individuals who may be at a higher
risk of an adverse event during physical activity/exercise
This activity has been approved for 3 RACGP Category 2 QI&CPD points & approval for 2 ACRRM Core
