GENETIC NUCLEUS MANAGER
ABS Global, Inc. is a global producer and marketer of bovine genetics and related
products and is sold in over 70 countries. This is an organization that is continually
growing and is in the position to add a Genetic Nucleus Manager to the Beef Division.
This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the beef Genetic
Nucleus herd and associated program wit
with
h a main objective to maximize genetic
progress through the use of reproductive technologies and recipient herds. This role
will be relied on to provide technical direction for the best practices in reproductive
technologies to achieve performance benchma
benchmarks
rks in order to facilitate genetic
improvement within the nucleus. Effective budget management with regard to
procurement, sales and inventory management will be essential and will require regular
reporting to senior management. GN Manager is also relied on to work with ABS teams
to identify new herds to add to the program and with supply chain product
development to ensure effective integration into production. Additionally, this
t role will
need to manage the relationship with the property owners where h
herds
erds are located and
service providers to ensure cohesion and productivity
productivity,, implement genetic improvement
programs, manage bio-security
security and health policies and implement SOP’s.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science
Scienc with a
Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience with production cattle and
extensive experience with the applying reproductive technologies including AI and
embryo transfer. Candidates must be ambitious but team orientated and possess
excellent communication and negotiation skills.
