Lipid metabolism of the microalgae Nannochloropsis gaditana
Short summary (max 50 words)
The microalgae Nannochloropsis gaditana can accumulate lipids (triacylglycerol) upon nitrogen
starvation. But also contains the omega-3 fatty acid eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). The project focusses
on the understanding the lipid metabolism and improve the lipid production. This is done by both
process engineering approach and more physiological understanding of the metabolism.
