PACKED WITH PROTEIN What is Protein? Your body is full of protein. It makes up your cells, muscles, skin, bones and even your hair. Protein is composed of 20 building blocks known as amino acids, 11 of which the human body can make on its own. Guess where the other 9 essential amino acids have to come from? Your food! Is Chobani a good source of protein? How much protein do I need? Due to its authentic straining process, Chobani packs in a total of 13-18 g of protein per 6 oz cup. Depending on the flavor, that’s equivalent to 26-36% of the daily value for protein! With more protein than regular yogurt*, Chobani is the perfect on-the-go fuel. From ages 9-18, children build the majority of their bone mass, making this a critical time for bone health. Calcium and Vitamin D Because your body uses calcium to build bone, increasing calcium intake during childhood can help support bone health. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium so it’s a key part of bone health. How Much Calcium and Vitamin D? Check out the chart to see where students fall for recommended calcium intake. AGE Mg/day 4—8 years 1000 9—18 years 1300 It’s also recommended that kids ages 1-18 get 600 IU vitamin D daily. Where can I find Calcium & Vitamin D? Dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese are good sources of calcium. Although a major source of vitamin D is from the sun, many foods such as cereal, juice, milk and yogurt are fortified with vitamin D.
