But for The Phoenix Theatre, 50 glorious years, going from strength to strength and still growing of course. The road has not always been smooth and some obstacles mammoth in proportion, but here we are, stronger than ever. The fact that we are, however, is due, in no small way to you, our patrons, many of whom have supported us through thick and thin. TICKETS: £17.50 & £16.50 Sunday 3rd May 7.30pm The Picture of Dorian Gray Fresh from a West End run of ‘The Trials of Oscar Wilde’, European Arts Company returns with a thrilling adaptation of Wilde’s only novel ’The Picture of Dorian Gray’. Set in the decadent world of Victorian London, a beautiful, narcissistic young man called Dorian Gray becomes infatuated by the exquisite portrait that Basil Hallward has painted of him. He makes a Faustian pact that he will remain forever young while the picture grows old. Combining drawing room comedy and Gothic horror, this is a gripping and hugely entertaining theatrical event. With an album of new studio material and single releases in the pipeline, the future is looking extremely bright for Cheryl, Mike & Jay formerly of Bucks Fizz. The prospects are bubbling over as Cheryl excitedly declares “New representation, new tour, new singer, new merchandise, maybe a new album... A new beginning! Originally put together as the perfect winning act, Bucks Fizz went far beyond their original Eurovision remit and as one of the biggest selling bands of the 80’s, became a global phenomenon. Making Your Mind Up became a number One hit across the world selling more than four million copies... The legendary skirt-ripping routine propelled them to overnight success, charting at No.1 in many countries beyond the UK with countries like Japan, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia falling to Bucks Fizz’s charms. “Paradise Regained” will be their most comprehensive tour since the 80’s, with more than 70 dates in the UK, Ireland, Europe and beyond... including Australia, where in spite of not being part of Eurovision territory, Bucks Fizz had a massive following. Having performed together since 2009 when Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan reunited with Jay Aston, the trio are being joined for their “Paradise Regained Tour” by a fourth vocalist - coincidentally called Bobby. His big break came in 1981 when he was a finalist on London Weekend Television’s Search for a Star - this lead to appearances at the London Palladium with Bob Hope and The Talk of the Town. A short time later, Joe received the Variety Club of Britain award as Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Television specials in the UK and USA followed. Joe’s repertoire of voices is endless and includes hundreds of the world’s top singers, however, he is perhaps best known for his mpersonation of Shirley Bassey who has commented, “Joe can do me better than I can do myself”. During his career, Joe has received gold and platinum discs for his albums, enjoyed sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as touring Australia several times.
