From our press release:
Freedom First Credit Union will open a new branch in Roanoke County near Tanglewood Mall
this fall. The location, 4203 Electric Road, is the site of a former StellarOne bank branch that
was relocated earlier this year.
“We have been looking for a suitable site in that part of the valley for some time,” said
President/CEO Paul Phillips. “Many of our members live and work in Southwest County and this
is a great opportunity to make banking with Freedom First even more convenient for them.”
In the past year, Freedom First opened branches in Daleville and Roanoke’s West End
neighborhood, and relocated its Towers branch to a larger space, also adding a drive-up ATM
there. The growing credit union has also recently expanded its mortgage team.
The new Freedom First branch will open this fall at the intersection of Electric Road and Ogden
Road across from Panera Bread. “This location will support our growing business banking and
commercial services division,” said Harvey D. Brookins, Jr., Freedom First’s Chief Development
Officer.
“Our members enjoy the convenience that our online banking and custom mobile apps offer,”
said Phillips, “but community branches will remain a critical service channel for the foreseeable
future. There are times, despite all of the modern conveniences, that you need to speak to a
financial professional face to face.”
