Volkovysk district includes
the city of Volkovysk, 2 townships
Ros and Krasnoselsky and 191 rural
settlements.
There are more than 13 industrial companies in the region, the
largest
being
JSC
‘Krasnoselskstroymaterialy’ and public unitary enterprise ‘Volkovyskstroymaterialy’ (production of construction materials), JSC ‘Bellakt’ and JSC
‘Volkovysk
meat-packing plant’
(food industry).
The main products for export
are cement, lime, asbestos-cement boards, fine-grain chalk, dry pack mortar, dairy and
meat production, locks, foundry equipment, accessories for paintwork and plastering.
The district population is 75200 people. Gross area 1200 square km.
Gross average monthly wages in Volkovysk district for January-December 2010
amounted to 290 EUR, including key-industries: industry – 353 EUR, agriculture – 192
EUR, construction – 370 EUR, transportation – 361 EUR, telecommunication – 286
